The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

De Mello gets caught napping as Hendricks dives in and scores a takedown. De Mello manages to retain guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Hendricks lands a couple of digs.
De Mello is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
De Mello keeping moving, preventing Hendricks from controlling successfully.
De Mello utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Hendricks stays in close to De Mello's body and controls the position.
De Mello manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hendricks manages to get himself to full guard.

Hendricks is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Hendricks tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. De Mello just stands there and leans against the cage.

Hendricks postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. De Mello looks a forlorn figure.
The referee warns De Mello that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

De Mello wants to hold on but Hendricks pushes him away.
De Mello looks gassed!

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Hendricks has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Hendricks is landing with some decent strikes but De Mello is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hendricks tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hendricks has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of De Mello's face.
De Mello is still in real trouble! Can Hendricks finish him?
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Hendricks unloads with some vicious shots from mount and De Mello wants out - he looks towards the referee who steps in to save him! Hendricks celebrates on the cage and the crowd goes wild!
