Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ethan Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Oleg Rienstien! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rienstien misses with a takedown and Jones counters with a single leg into guard. Rienstien didn't expect that. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Jones lands a couple of decent looking shots. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Jones with a flurry of punches that miss. Jones throwing strikes but missing. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Jones throws a strike but Rienstien rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Rienstien throwing strikes but missing. Rienstien is looking to work some ground and pound but Jones has wrist control. Jones has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Rienstien accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Rienstien must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rienstien working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Rienstien thows a big elbow that misses. Jones keeping full guard, as Rienstien tries to pass. Jones uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Rienstien tries for a takedown but Jones circles away easily and Jones decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Rienstien's guard. Jones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rienstien swivels though and keeps the full guard. Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Jones chips away with some ground and pound. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jones scoring with punches to the head and body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Rienstien avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Jones postures up and lands a big shot to Rienstien's brow. Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rienstien works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Rienstien really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jones. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Jones is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Jones not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Rienstien looks gassed! Jones postures up in Rienstien's guard and throws a big left but Rienstien blocks it. Jones thows a big elbow that misses. Jones lands a couple of decent looking shots. Jones lands a couple of elbows. Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Jones throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Rienstien works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Jones scoring with some ground and pound. Jones seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Jones's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. Jones is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Rienstien avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Jones slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jones in side control lands a decent elbow. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jones lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Rienstien down.

Rienstien is rocked! The strikes coming from Jones are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Jones is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Rienstien's shoulder. That is not cool. Jones landing strikes. Rienstien is still in real trouble! Can Jones finish him? The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Jones misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Rienstien seems to have recovered his senses. Jones lands a big elbow and you can see that really hurt Rienstien! Jones senses the opportunity and scores with more strikes - he's put Rienstien out! The ref tackles him out of the way to prevent him landing more strikes - this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Ethan Jones!
