PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jose Omar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hugh Recksun (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Recksun comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Stroke kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Omar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hugh Recksun!
The judges for this bout are , and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Omar fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Recksun keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Omar misses with a double jab.
Recksun throws a body punch but Omar moves out of range.
Recksun lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Omar circles away quickly and effectively.
Recksun defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Omar.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Omar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Omar feints a jab promting Recksun to slip. Omar then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Recksun slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.


It looks like Hugh Recksun has been cut.

Omar throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Recksun tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Omar is in Recksun's guard.

Recksun pulls Omar in close to his closed guard and prevents Omar from doing any damage or advancing position.
Omar postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Recksun has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Omar drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Recksun dives on top into guard.
Recksun stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Omar swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Omar had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Recksun defends it easily.
Recksun trying to control the position from guard on top but Omar is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Omar throws his legs up looking for a submission but Recksun uses it to pass to side control.
Recksun wants to control but Omar is keeping him busy.
Omar is looking to reverse the position.
Omar sneaks back into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Recksun is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Omar!

Recksun tries to control but Omar wriggling away.
Recksun controlling the pace for now.
Recksun throws some wild stikes that Omar manages to avoid easily.

Recksun takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Omar slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Recksun is figuring out what he wants to do next.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Hugh Recksun hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
A nice leg kick lands there from Recksun.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Horrible takedown by Recksun or perhaps it was just good defense by Omar which made him look bad.
Omar shoots in for a takedown but Recksun shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Omar looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Recksun is fending him off so far but Omar persists. Nope, Recksun circles away and we're back to standing.
Recksun moves out of range as Omar throws a body kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Omar is looking to pass Recksun's guard but actually Recksun recovers to full guard.
Recksun wants to get back to his feet but Omar is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Omar looks very frustrated and is flailing away with strikes from the bottom. His corner are telling him to stay calm.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Omar is trying to escape the mount.
Jose Omar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Omar regains half guard.
Omar gets back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Recksun wants to control from the top but Omar keeps moving.

Omar is looking for a triangle here but Recksun uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Recksun trying to control the action but Omar is working from the bottom.

Omar is looking to reverse the position.
Omar sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.

Recksun stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Recksun dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Omar. That did some damage!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Recksun lands a body shot.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Recksun works over Omar's head and body with a nice combination.


It looks like Jose Omar has been cut.
Omar swats away the attempt to clinch by Recksun.
Omar tries a head kick but it misses.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Hugh Recksun will probably get the nod - 10:9.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Recksun scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Recksun will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Omar shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Recksun pinned against the cage. Recksun gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Recksun fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Omar.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Recksun defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Omar.
Recksun throws a leg kick which misses Omar's front leg but catches the back leg as Omar tries to avoid it.
Omar throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Recksun's waist but Recksun gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Omar off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Omar. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A left and a right from Recksun both land. Nice combination.
Omar pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Recksun moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Omar is defended easily by Recksun.
Recksun scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Recksun tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Omar swivels and escapes.

Omar passes Recksun's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Omar is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Recksun is just riding it out for now. Omar eventually gives up the hold.

Recksun looking to hit a scissor sweep but Omar is one step ahead there.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
