Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mark Wilcox!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Xavier Mack!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Gregory Folan and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mack tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wilcox paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Wilcox has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Mack finds it's way round the side to connect with Wilcox's head.
A looping hook to the body misses from Mack. Wilcox does a little dance to reset his feet.
Mack connects with a right hand. Wilcox shakes it off.
Wilcox closes the distance and clinches up with Mack, looking for a takedown. Wilcox pushes Mack against the cage but Mack circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
A shot to the liver by Mack. Beautiful body shot.
No luck for Wilcox with that takedown attempt.
Wilcox takes one to the chin there.
Wilcox keeps the fight on the outside.
Wilcox fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mark Wilcox. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mack tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

and Mack counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Mack throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Mack scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Wilcox doesn't seem bothered though.
Wilcox shoots in for a takedown but Mack shows good takedown defense.
Mack comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Mack moves in looking to clinch but Wilcox pushes him off.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Wilcox takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Wilcox tries to score a power double leg takedown but Mack sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Wilcox somewhat.
Mack fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Wilcox manages to avoid it.

Mack is looking to regain half guard here but Wilcox keeps moving and retains side control.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mack is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Wilcox off and has taken his back!
Mack tries to keep control of the position but Wilcox is staying busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wilcox is trapped and Mack is scoring with shots to the head and body.

Wilcox is trying to remain composed but Mack is hammering down strikes to the side of his head.

Mack cracks Wilcox with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Wilcox from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

Mack is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Wilcox has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Wilcox moves forwards but Mack connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Mack scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Mack stuffs the takedown attempt from Wilcox. Wilcox gets slowly back to his feet.
Mack connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Wilcox momentarily.
Mack wants to clinch.

Wilcox leaves Mack with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Wilcox changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Mack tries to avoid it but Wilcox manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Mack to the ground. Mack escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Mack misses with a takedown attempt - Wilcox sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Mack sizes up Wilcox with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

and Wilcox counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Mack ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.

Mack moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Mack is defended easily by Wilcox.
No joy there for Mack, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mack misses with a shot to the body
and Wilcox counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Wilcox fails with the takedown.
Wilcox shoots for a double leg takedown but Mack sprawls well. He's pushed Wilcox's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Wilcox walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Mack checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Wilcox will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Wilcox moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Mack has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Mack has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Wilcox regains guard immediately.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Mack postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

Xavier Mack showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Mack tries to clinch but Wilcox is having none of it.
Mack tries to close the distance and clinch up but Wilcox swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Wilcox shoots in looking for a takedown but Mack manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Wilcox's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Well Mack has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
