The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Katasonov fails to land with a series of punches.
Katasonov misses with a looping right.
Strife throws the left hand but Katasonov avoids the punch easily.
Strife walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Katasonov checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Katasonov swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Strife counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Katasonov goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Danga de danga de dang - Katasonov scores with a four punch combination!
It looks like John Strife has been cut.
Katasonov swings for the body but Strife moves out of range.
A jab from Katasonov misses.
Katasonov closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Strife to the mat! Strife manages to get full guard.
Strife looking to control.

Strife lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Katasonov!
Strife wants to control the pace but Katasonov is squirming around nicely.
Strife throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

and Katasonov counters with a nice uppercut.

Katasonov throws a nice inside leg kick.
Strife is looking to score with low kicks.
Katasonov bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Strife's head backwards.
Strife throws an overhand right that lands on Katasonov's shoulder, as Katasonov tries to avoid the shot.

Katasonov misses with a hook. Strife ducked under it nicely.
Katasonov connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Strife's hands.
Strife is rocked!

Strife throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Strife shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Strife throws a body kick but he was well out of range there.
A big left from Strife misses.
Strife defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Katasonov.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Strife takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Katasonov feints and then cracks Strife's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Strife down.

A shot to the body from Strife misses
and Katasonov counters with a left and a right that stings Strife.
Oh Strife is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Strife throws a leg kick that is checked
and Katasonov counters with a big right hand! Oh Strife is in trouble here! Katasonov follows up with more strikes and that's it! The ref has stopped it!
