Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gilbert Taneyev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stephan Potvin!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Alec Ball and Elvis Blanc.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taneyev misses with a few strikes there.
Taneyev shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
The fight stays on the outside here - Taneyev looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Taneyev misses with a low kick as Potvin jumps back.
A combination from Taneyev does no damage.
Potvin looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Taneyev keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Taneyev closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Taneyev lands in his opponent's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Potvin tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Potvin wants to control the position but Taneyev says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Taneyev wants to pass to mount but Potvin is defending the position.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Taneyev is trying to stick to Potvin's back but Potvin is turning into Taneyev. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Taneyev's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Potvin.

Potvin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Potvin throws a strike but Taneyev rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Potvin is on top in guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Potvin slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Taneyev moves in looking to clinch but Potvin pushes him off.
Taneyev lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Taneyev scores with a one two! Potvin had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

Taneyev rushes Potvin and pushes him back against the ropes in a clinch.
Taneyev scores with an uppercut up the middle.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Taneyev gets underhooks to prevent Potvin's takedown attempt.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Taneyev is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Potvin wants to control from the top but Taneyev keeps moving.

Potvin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Taneyev defends it well.

Taneyev bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Potvin's guard.
Taneyev wants to pass the guard but Potvin is keeping the position.
Potvin is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Potvin is keen to just control but Taneyev is a slippery customer.

Potvin passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Taneyev!

Potvin is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Taneyev has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Taneyev!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Stephan Potvin hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Taneyev misses with a series of wild punches.
Taneyev looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gilbert Taneyev is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Potvin shoots in looking for a takedown but Taneyev manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Potvin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

I think Potvin has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
