Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Bartosz Tontyl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitsuyo Maeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tontyl kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is La Coka Nostra - Gun in Your Mouth. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the bantamweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 0 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bartosz Tontyl! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Mitsuyo Maeda! The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Matheus Silva and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Tontyl throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Maeda looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Tontyl fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Maeda manages to avoid it. Tontyl really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Maeda moves out of range of the strikes. Maeda moves out of range as Tontyl strikes. Tontyl looks to land a combination but Maeda avoids it well. Maeda misses with a jab to the body
and Tontyl counters with a nice uppercut. Tontyl throws a hook but Maeda blocks it. Maeda looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Tontyl! Maeda throws some wild stikes that Tontyl manages to avoid easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Tontyl tries to hold on but Maeda pushes him away. Maeda trying to control but Tontyl is having none of it. Tontyl is trying to escape the mount.
Maeda goes for an armbar but Tontyl turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Tontyl. Maeda has Tontyl pulled in close to control his posture. Tontyl thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tontyl controls the pace of the fight for a moment. Tontyl trying to control but Maeda is working from the bottom. Maeda keeping full guard, as Tontyl tries to pass. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Tontyl trying to control the position from guard on top but Maeda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Tontyl preventing the sweep.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maeda pulls Tontyl in to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
We're going to have a standup here because Bartosz Tontyl wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Maeda jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Tontyl lands an overhand right. Tontyl ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Tontyl slips under a jab from Maeda. Tontyl steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Maeda. Maeda throws a hook but Tontyl blocks it. Tontyl throws a right and a left that Maeda avoids nicely. Sloppy strikes from Tontyl. Those never looked like landing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maeda cracks Tontyl with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Bartosz Tontyl is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Tontyl throws a body punch but Maeda moves out of range. Maeda moves in looking to clinch but Tontyl pushes him off. Maeda on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Maeda avoids the body shot from Tontyl.
Maeda fails with the takedown. Tontyl tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Maeda was well out of range. Poor timing from Tontyl. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Maeda takes one on the chin but seems OK.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Bartosz Tontyl will probably get the nod. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Maeda throws a body punch but Tontyl moves out of range. Maeda looks to throw the jab but Tontyl is out of range. Maeda shoots for a takedown but Tontyl saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Tontyl misses with a wild body shot. Tontyl slips under a jab from Maeda. Tontyl throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Maeda takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Maeda catches Tontyl with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! Tontyl feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Maedas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
That's one minute gone in the round. Tontyl throws a right and a left that Maeda avoids nicely. Maeda takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Tontyl slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. A nice combination there by Tontyl.
Maeda walks into a stiff left hand from Tontyl. Tontyl throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Tontyl scores with a three punch combo!

and Maeda counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Mitsuyo Maeda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tontyl throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Tontyl gets caught flat footed, as Maeda shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Maeda engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Maeda pushes down on Tontyl's leg and manages to get into half guard. Maeda content to control rather than advance. Maeda wants to take a breather but Tontyl is having none of it. Maeda is trying to work for a kimura but Tontyl is defending well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Maeda is looking to stall here but Tontyl recovers full guard. Maeda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tontyl swivels though and keeps the full guard. Tontyl working for a triangle but Maeda defends it easily.
Maeda has gone for a leg lock! Tontyl slips out almost immediately though and dives into Maeda's guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maeda looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Tontyl tries to free his leg and advance position but Maeda is retaining full guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Tontyl trying to control the position from guard on top but Maeda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Maeda managing to control the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close second round but I would say that Bartosz Tontyl will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
Maeda tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Tontyl looks to land a left hand but Maeda moved out of range nicely. Maeda dives in and scores a takedown into Tontyl's guard. Maeda stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tontyl swivels though and keeps the full guard. Tontyl controls Maeda momentarily but Maeda frees himself. Maeda is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Maeda trying to control but Tontyl is working from the bottom. Tontyl is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Maeda is aware though and is defending well. Maeda must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Tontyl is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Tontyl throws his legs up looking for a submission but Maeda uses it to pass to side control.
Maeda scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Tontyl to see if he's OK. Tontyl takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Tontyl is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Mitsuyo Maeda has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Maeda misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Maeda has knee on belly and moves into mount. Maeda punching from mount but Tontyl doing a good job of avoiding damage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Tontyl is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Maeda looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Mitsuyo Maeda has got the better of the ground game so far. Maeda content just to control the position here. Maeda lands a big elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Tontyl defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Maeda. Maeda goes for an armbar but Tontyl turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Tontyl. Maeda pulls Tontyl in close to prevent any damage. Maeda looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Tontyl puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Maeda works his way to full guard. Good work. Maeda keeping moving, preventing Tontyl from controlling successfully. Tontyl stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Maeda swivels though and keeps the full guard. Bartosz Tontyl is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Tontyl trying to control the position from guard on top but Maeda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that's the end of the fight! Mitsuyo Maeda comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Tontyl has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
