Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jim Beam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Javier Cabollaro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jim Beam! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
7 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Javier Cabollaro! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Aleksei Zolotukhin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cabollaro throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Beam fails to land the takedown. Beam feints and as Cabollaro raises his hands in defense, Beam changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Cabollaro utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Cabollaro is looking to stand up but Beam isn't so interested in that idea. Beam distracts Cabollaro with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Beam is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Beam sitting in guard here, content to control. Beam landing with the ground and pound. Beam with a nice head shot there. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Beam stands up over Cabollaro, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Beam stops Cabollaro from standing up. Beam has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Beam is in close to Cabollaro's body, working some short punches and elbows. Beam showing good wrestling skills to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cabollaro really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Beam. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Beam is in close to Cabollaro's body, working some short punches and elbows. Beam is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Beam in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Beam sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Jim Beam has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Cabollaro throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Beam tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cabollaro sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Beam somewhat. Beam scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Cabollaro should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Beam is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Beam lands strikes from half guard. Beam looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Cabollaro with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Cabollaro taking some punishment here, with Beam in his half guard.
Cabollaro is rocked! Beam lands a big elbow - Cabollaro is out of it! He's waving his arms around but his eyes are closed and he's not intelligently defending himself - the ref has no choice but to jump in and stop the fight! This one is in the books! A TKO win for Beam!
