Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Shogun Rua (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Carlton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, William Peck and Yves DeLean.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Carlton shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Rua eats them both and turns towards Carlton to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Rua shoots in but Carlton avoids the takedown attempt easily.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rua.
Rua fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shogun Rua. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Carlton connects with a looping right hand.
Carlton works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rua closes the distance and clinches up with Carlton, looking for a takedown. Rua pushes Carlton against the cage but Carlton circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rua shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Carlton sprawls well. Carlton wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Rua gets slowly back to his feet.
Rua throws a right hand that misses
and Carlton connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Rua is rocked!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Carlton has cracked Rua with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Carlton lands another huge swinging hook and Rua tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Rua, before Carlton can land any more shots!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). John Carlton!
