PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Darvin Flandry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jacob Durkin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Flandry kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Louisiana Hot Sauce - Sammy Kershaw. Both fighters really staring eachother down here, as Jacob Durkin enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Darvin Flandry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jacob Durkin!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Taro Takaoka and Shigeki Sano.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Flandry just misses with a punch to the body.
Durkin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Flandry swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Durkin is looking to clinch.
Flandry keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Durkin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Flandry to score an easy takedown into full guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Flandry is stalling in the full guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Darvin Flandry wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Flandry looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Durkin is fending him off so far but Flandry persists. Nope, Durkin circles away and we're back to standing.

and Flandry counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Jacob Durkin has been cut.
Durkin tries to clinch but Flandry is having none of it.
Durkin throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Flandry closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.

Durkin throws a body punch but Flandry moves out of range.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
A looping hook to the body misses from Durkin. Flandry does a little dance to reset his feet.
Flandry scores with a head kick.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Durkin!
Durkin throws a right hand that Flandry ducks under and follows up with a left that Flandry also avoids with ease.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Durkin throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Flandry fakes the leg kick and cracks Durkin in the body.
Durkin looks gassed!
Durkin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Flandry to score with a decent uppercut.


That has opened up Jacob Durkin's cut even more.
Flandry slips under a jab.
Flandry lands a nice shot to the body.

Flandry closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Flandry uses his free foot to push down on Durkin's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Durkin.

Flandry is standing up, even though he is in mount.
Jacob Durkin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Flandry digs a good hook to Durkin's body.
Flandry shoots in looking for a takedown. Durkin tries to sprawl out of it but Flandry keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Durkin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Flandry shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Durkin as he jumps to the side.

A decent looking cross lands there for Flandry.
Durkin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Flandry stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Flandry wants it to stay on the feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Durkin stuffs the takedown attempt from Flandry. Flandry gets slowly back to his feet.
Durkin moves into range and connects with a jab.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Flandry's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Durkin darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Flandry dives in and grabs Durkin's left leg, looking for a takedown. Durkin pushes down on Flandry's head and hops out.
Flandry keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Durkin closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Durkin lands a body punch in the clinch.
Durkin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Durkin wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Flandry is looking to break free of the clinch but Durkin has double underhooks.

Flandry is trying to push Durkin away but Durkin has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Durkin wants a takedown but no success here.

Flandry escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Flandry showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Durkin.

Flandry wants to land a leg kick but Durkin is out of range.
Durkin looks to land a combination. Flandry sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Durkin is looking to clinch but Flandry is avoiding it.
Flandry connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Durkin shoots in looking for a takedown but Flandry manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Durkin's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Durkin is breathing heavily.
Flandry throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Durkin's waist but Durkin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Flandry off to one side.

Flandry is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Durkin's half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Flandry not doing much here.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Durkin wants to control but Flandry is keeping busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Darvin Flandry just wasn't active enough.
Durkin tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Flandry manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Flandry displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Durkin throws out the jab.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Durkin throws a left and a right that both miss

and Flandry counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Flandry.

Durkin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Durkin walks into a left hand.
Durkin fails with a takedown attempt.
Darvin Flandry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jacob Durkin.
Flandry circles away from the clinch attempt
and Flandry counters with a nice uppercut.
Flandry misses with the combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Flandry gets the takedown into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Flandry stalks Durkin and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Durkin's face. Durkin staggers backwards, shaken.
Flandry swats away the attempt to clinch by Durkin.
Flandry shoots in looking for a takedown. Durkin tries to sprawl out of it but Flandry keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Durkin manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Durkin misses with a combination
and Flandry counters with a left right combination that sends Durkin crashing to the mat - Flandry wastes no time in diving on top of him and pounding Durkin out for a TKO! Devastating finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:29 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Darvin Flandry!
