Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ron Sparks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vinnie Vincent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vincent has chosen Boyz Are Gonna Rock as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron Sparks! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Vinnie Vincent! The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Eddie Farnsworth and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sparks wants to clinch up but Vincent keeps it at a distance. Sparks drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Vincent is trying to keep Sparks in close.
Sparks will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Sparks wants to control from the top but Vincent keeps moving. Sparks pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Vincent is keeping the position for now. Vincent is trying to control the position but Sparks postures up. Vincent might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Sparks kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Vincent has his foot on Sparks's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Sparks works his way back into a safe position though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vincent manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Vincent stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sparks swivels though and keeps the full guard. Sparks has an active guard here but Vincent has managed to pass into half guard.
Sparks wants to control but Vincent is keeping busy and won't allow it. Sparks is trying to get back to full guard. Vincent seems to be working for a kimura but Sparks defends the submission attempt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Vincent stalling. Vincent trying to control the action but Sparks is working from the bottom. Sparks trying to control here.
Sparks actively working from the bottom here. Still in half guard, Vincent seems content to control. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Sparks looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Sparks is looking to improve his position.

That was a close round but I would say that Ron Sparks will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Vincent lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Sparks just misses with a elbow thrown towards Vincent's brow. Sparks gets a trip takedown into half guard. Vincent moves into full guard.
Vincent wants to sweep but no luck. Sparks showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Sparks sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Vincent's guard. Sparks works his way into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sparks trying to control the action but Vincent is working from the bottom. Vincent wants to control but Sparks postures up. Vincent manages to work his way to half guard, despite Sparks's best efforts. Vincent is trying to get back to full guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Vincent manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Sparks has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Sparks forces his way into half guard. Sparks slows the pace down in half guard. Sparks is thwarting Vincent's attempts to control the position.

Vincent has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Vincent is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Sparks tries to free his leg and advance position but Vincent is retaining full guard. Sparks trying to control but Vincent is working from the bottom. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Sparks is really struggling to control Vincent but he's trying to hold on to the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Sparks scores with a decent looking hook. Sparks tries to clinch but Vincent is having none of it. Sparks moves into range and clinches up with Vincent. Sparks stalls. Sparks lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
It looks like Vinnie Vincent has been cut. Sparks is pressed up against the cage. Vincent has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sparks down to the mat. Sparks avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. Ron Sparks seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vincent misses with a jab, cross combination.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. A combination from Vincent does no damage. Sparks takes a body punch but keeps moving. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Sparks looking to score a takedown here. Vincent is defending well but Sparks drives through and ends up in Vincent's guard. Vincent wants to sweep but no luck. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ron Sparks dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Vinnie Vincent's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!

Sparks gets the takedown into side control. Vincent is not content to let Sparks control the position. Sparks wants to take a breather but Vincent manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Sparks. Vincent is trying to keep Sparks in close.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sparks pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Vincent is keeping the position for now. Sparks's corner is telling him to maintain position. Sparks got a little sloppy there for a moment and Vincent has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sparks has managed to get both his arms back between Vincent's legs - danger averted. Sparks wants to control from the top but Vincent keeps moving. Vincent is trying to keep Sparks in close.
Vincent looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Sparks has picked Vincent up and slammed him! Vincent can't keep hold of the triangle and Sparks manages to pass to side control! Ron Sparks is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Vincent is not content to let Sparks control the position. Vincent is looking to reverse the position. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Vincent is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Sparks is trying to control. Vincent wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Vincent tries to roll over but Sparks keeps him under control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sparks trying to pass the guard but Vincent defending well. Sparks is trying to control the action in half guard but Vincent is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Ron Sparks wasn't doing enough on the ground. Sparks fails with an attempt to clinch.

Vincent just misses with a punch to the body.
Sparks tries to clinch but Vincent is having none of it. Vincent throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Sparks sees it coming and avoids it easily. Vincent with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Sparks to score with a decent uppercut. Vincent tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sparks was well out of range. Poor timing from Vincent. Sparks tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Sparks slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Sparks doesn't manage to clinch there - Vincent circles away.
Vincent misses with a hook. Vincent connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sparks momentarily.
Sparks wants to clinch. Sparks looks to land a combination but Vincent avoids it well. Vincent moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body. Vinnie Vincent has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Both fighters are breathing heavily. This has been an exciting period of action! Sparks is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Vincent avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Vincent defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Sparks. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Vincent misses with a few strikes there.

And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ron Sparks. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sparks, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
