Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 9 - 1, fighting out of London, Tristan Mkhalele! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, John Flare! The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Atkins and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Flare throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Mkhalele moves into the clinch. A nice glancing elbow lands by Mkhalele. Mkhalele lands an elbow inside that Flare shrugs off.
It looks like John Flare has been cut. Mkhalele slowing the pace effectively. A nice glancing elbow lands by Mkhalele. Mkhalele tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Flare letting Mkhalele take a breather here. Mkhalele lands an elbow that stopped Flare in his tracks for a moment. Mkhalele has Flare pressed against the cage.
Flare is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Mkhalele gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Mkhalele lands an elbow just above Flare 's eye. Mkhalele will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Flare up against the cage. Mkhalele lands an elbow inside that Flare shrugs off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mkhalele blocking some punches.
Mkhalele pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Mkhalele creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses. Mkhalele comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Mkhalele prevents the takedown attempt.
Mkhalele drops Flare with a big knee straight up the middle! Flare is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!
Flare is rocked! Mkhalele pushes Flare up against the cage in a clinch. Flare is still on wobbly legs! Can Mkhalele finish him? Flare is pressed against the cage. Mkhalele pushes back and unleashes a big elbow that really hurts Flare! Two more big strikes from Mkhalele and Flare crumples to the mat and taps out furiously due to the strikes!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Tristan Mkhalele! Tristan Mkhalele seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
