PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Padraig McNamara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Carlos Strikes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Carlos Strikes told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A cross from McNamara lands.
Strikes takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
McNamara thows a body shot but no joy.
The fighters circle momentarily. McNamara darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
McNamara misses with a jab to the body
and Strikes counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. McNamara is lucky that one didn't land flush.
McNamara closes the distance and clinches up with Strikes, looking for a takedown. McNamara pushes Strikes against the cage but Strikes circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
McNamara comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

McNamara changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Strikes looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
