Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dylan Davison! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Blake Axe! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Andrew Berry and James Atkins.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Axe is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Davison tries to keep at a distance but Axe has taken the fight into the clinch. Axe slows down the pace here.
Axe softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Axe connects with a knee to the head.
Axe lands a right hand that snaps the head of Davison backwards. Axe can't find room to land a body shot as Davison controls the action.
Davison is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Axe pulls him back up using the underhooks. Davison wants a takedown.
A shot in the inside from Axe. Axe will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Davison up against the cage. Axe lands a damaging elbow.
That's one minute gone in the round. Axe is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body. Axe comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush. Axe's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. The crowd are getting on Axe's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch. Knees to the body from Axe.
Davison can't get the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Dylan Davison. That's going to take a lot out of him. Axe landing knees to the body.
Davison is breathing heavily. Davison takes an elbow to the temple. Axe is pressed up against the cage. Davison has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Axe down to the mat. Axe avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Davison keeps the fight on the outside. Axe shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Axe sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Axe trying to control but he's not successful this time. Axe putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Axe fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Axe raining down hammerfists from mount. Davison is bucking up trying to escape but Axe cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Axe lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Axe is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Axe extends the arm and Davison is forced to tap!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:03 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Blake Axe! Our winner, Blake Axe, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
