The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wenkel tries to close the distance and clinch but Dem swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dem defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Wenkel.
Wenkel looks to land a body kick but Dem moved away.
Dem throws a hook to the side of Wenkel's head but Wenkel sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Wenkel has managed to clinch.
Wenkel is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Dem pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Dem changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Wenkel tries to avoid it but Dem manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Wenkel to the ground. Wenkel escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Wenkel changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Dem looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Dem gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Dem escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wenkel gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Dem is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Wenkel stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dem swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Dem manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
