PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Fe Reti (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seppo Sikapossu (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sikapossu has chosen Little pig as his entrance music. Fe Reti has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Fe Reti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Seppo Sikapossu!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Anni Minnemäki.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reti shoots in for a takedown but Sikapossu shows good takedown defense.
Reti looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Sikapossu lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Reti fails with a takedown attempt.
Reti fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fe Reti. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Horrible takedown by Reti or perhaps it was just good defense by Sikapossu which made him look bad.
Sikapossu stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sikapossu wants it to stay on the feet.
Sikapossu pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Reti back to the cage. Sikapossu follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Sikapossu throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Sikapossu has managed to clinch.
Sikapossu misses with a punch to the body.
Sikapossu wants to break the clinch but can't.
Sikapossu lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
Sikapossu throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Retis head.
Reti has Sikapossu pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Sikapossu manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Reti keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Sikapossu's efforts to push away.
Sikapossu lands a shot to the body.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.
Sikapossu is pressed up against the cage. Reti has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Sikapossu down to the mat. Sikapossu avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Sikapossu closes the distance but Reti moves to the side

and Reti counters with a nice double leg into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sikapossu wants to get back to his feet but Reti is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Sikapossu keeping moving, preventing Reti from controlling successfully.
Reti in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Reti cracks Sikapossu with a solid left hand.
Sikapossu wants to get back to his feet but Reti is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Reti is looking to work some ground and pound but Sikapossu has wrist control.
Sikapossu wants to stand and escape but Reti is having none of it.
Reti working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.

Sikapossu pushes Reti off and scrambles back to his feet.
Sikapossu misses the shot to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Reti shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Sikapossu pinned against the cage. Sikapossu gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
The fighters circling - Reti throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Reti closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Reti lands in his opponent's guard.
Reti's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Sikapossu is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Reti is controlling him.
Sikapossu keeping moving, preventing Reti from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Reti is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.
Reti prevents Sikapossu from getting back to his feet.

Sikapossu pushes Reti off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Sikapossu pivots, looking for a leg kick but Reti is out of range and Sikapossu settles back down.

Reti feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Sikapossu has momentary wrist control but Reti slips an elbow through the middle.
Sikapossu is looking to stand up but Reti isn't so interested in that idea.
Reti stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sikapossu swivels though and keeps the full guard.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sikapossu wants to get back to his feet but Reti is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Fe Reti will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Reti swats away the attempt to clinch by Sikapossu.
Sikapossu lands a jab to the nose.
Reti has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Sikapossu.
Reti misses with a body punch

and Sikapossu counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Sikapossu breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sikapossu throws a leg kick but Reti moved away.
Sikapossu lands a jab-cross combination.
Reti doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Sikapossu counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Reti misses with a telegraphed body shot
and Sikapossu counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Reti tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sikapossu swivels and escapes.
Reti has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Sikapossu swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Seppo Sikapossu is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Reti misses the body punch
and Sikapossu counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Sikapossu fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Reti manages to avoid it.
Sikapossu throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Reti misses with a takedown attempt
and Sikapossu counters with a lovely straight right hand!
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Fe Reti. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Reti will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Seppo Sikapossu is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Reti looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Reti thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Sikapossu tries to kick Reti off but Reti keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Sikapossu has hold of Reti's hands but Reti slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Reti is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Sikapossu is looking to escape.
Reti looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Reti stops Sikapossu from getting back to his feet.
Nice strikes from Reti there.
Sikapossu scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Reti manages to mount him!
Sikapossu is breathing heavily.

Reti controlling the pace for now.
Reti in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Sikapossu is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Reti tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Reti looking to finish Sikapossu with some ground and pound. This is bad for Sikapossu!
Reti lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
You get the feeling that Sikapossu really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Sikapossu is squirming around, avoiding Reti's attempts to control the action.
