The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nogueira moves away from the strike by Gage.
Gage misses with a lunging right hand
and Nogueira counters with a series of strikes. Gage will be more careful next time no doubt.
Nogueira throws out a powerful jab.
Nogueira uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gage.
A momentary lapse in concentration from Gage enables Nogueira to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gage manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Nogueira tries to free his leg and advance position but Gage is retaining full guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Nogueira accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nogueira is pushing down on Gage's leg trying to pass to half guard. Gage is fighting to maintain full guard but Nogueira has managed to sneak the leg through.
Nogueira winds up and cracks Gage with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Nogueira missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Nogueira lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Gage is rocked!
Nogueira has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Nogueira drops an elbow to the side of Gage's head.
Gage is still in real trouble! Can Nogueira finish him?
Nogueira scores with a big shot! Gage's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Gage! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
