Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mathew Davidson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Speedy Montog! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Cecil Peabody and George Francis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Montog throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Davidson dodges the punch combination from Montog.
A looping hook to the body misses from Montog. Davidson does a little dance to reset his feet. Montog misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Davidson.
Montog throws a jab but it's blocked by Davidson. Montog misses with a jab, cross combination.
Davidson scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Speedy Montog seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Davidson walks into a stiff left hand from Montog. A bone on bone clash there as Davidson blocks the leg kick.
Montog throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Montog lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Montog. Davidson scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
It looks like Speedy Montog has been cut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Davidson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Davidson avoids a punch combination nicely.

A head kick from Davidson lands but Montog takes it in his stride. Montog scores with a nice head shot. Montog throws a combination that misses and Davidson counters with a head kick that drops Montog!
Montog is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Davidson slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Montog is still in real trouble! Can Davidson finish him?
That's two minutes gone in the round. Davidson advances position into side control! Montog seems to have recovered his senses. Davidson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Davidson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Montog for as long as he can get away with. Montog defending against the ground and pound. Davidson in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Montog can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Davidson throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Davidson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Montog has escaped the position, nice work there. Davidson in side control, just content to control the action for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Davidson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Davidson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Davidson moves into full mount! Davidson sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Davidson looking for a guillotine from mount but Montog is having none of it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Mathew Davidson dominated that round. The cut man is working on Speedy Montog's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Davidson tries to clinch there but Montog circles away.
Davidson misses with a kick to the body.
Davidson throws a lazy head kick and Montog counters with a nice uppercut. Davidson walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
It looks like Mathew Davidson has been cut. Montog throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Davidson crashing down! Davidson tries to stagger back to his feet but Montog just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Davidson asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Speedy Montog!
