Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is disturbed - down with the sickness. Smith has chosen Grand Magus - Hammer of the North as his entrance music. Chuck Gracie has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chuck Gracie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Peter Smith!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Matti Vanhoillinen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws an off balance right hand

and Gracie counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Smith's guard now.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gracie with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Gracie with a flurry of punches that miss.
Gracie controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Smith working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Gracie.
Gracie throwing strikes but missing.
Gracie stops Smith from standing up.
Gracie makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Smith really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gracie. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Gracie is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Smith is just riding it out for now. Gracie eventually gives up the hold.
Gracie lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Smith avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Gracie.
Gracie drops an elbow to the side of Smith's head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Gracie connects with a good right hand that stumbles Smith. Smith circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Smith misses with an uppercut. Gracie saw that one coming.
Gracie shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Smith pinned against the cage. Smith gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Gracie misses with a left hand
and Smith counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gracie moves out of range of the strikes.
Gracie throws a lazy uppercut
and Smith counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Gracie dodges the punch combination from Smith.
Gracie blocks a jab.
Smith keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Smith throws a jab when Gracie was well out of range.

Gracie lands a right hook to the body.
Smith is breathing heavily.
No luck for Gracie with that takedown attempt.
Gracie uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Smith.
Smith thows a left - swing and a miss!
Gracie looks to score with a jab to the body but Smith is just out of range.

A clash of legs there as Gracie blocks the low kick.
Gracie throws a body punch but Smith moves out of range.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gracie throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Gracie tries to score a power double leg takedown but Smith sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Gracie somewhat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chuck Gracie. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Gracie looks to score with a jab to the body but Smith is just out of range.

Smith finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Smith cracks Gracie with a good jab.
Gracie uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Smith.
Smith bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Horrible takedown by Gracie or perhaps it was just good defense by Smith which made him look bad.

It looks like Peter Smith has been cut.
Peter Smith is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

That was a close second round but I would say that Chuck Gracie will probably get the nod.

Smith wants to stand and escape but instead Gracie has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Smith avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Gracie has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Gracie wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving.
Smith wants to stand but Gracie is controlling the position.
Peter Smith has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Chuck Gracie overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well Gracie has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
