Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mush Mouth!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Daniel Alves!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Mouth finds it's target.
Alves misses with an uppercut. Mouth saw that one coming.
Mouth throws a low kick but it's checked well by Alves.
Mouth fails with an attempt to clinch.
Mouth checks a low kick from Alves.
Mouth tries to clinch there but Alves circles away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mouth tries to clinch but Alves moves out of range.
Mouth looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Alves misses with a head kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Alves chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Mouth can pounce on him.
Mouth shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
The fight stays on the outside here - Mouth looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Mouth forces Alves back against the cage and clinches.

Mouth manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Alves really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mouth. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mouth has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Alves is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mouth.

Mouth is looking to reverse the position.

Alves decides to stand back up. Alves steps back and let's Mouth get back to his feet.
A head kick misses from Alves.
Mouth shoots in for a takedown but Alves shows good takedown defense.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mush Mouth. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mouth fails with a takedown attempt.
Alves loads up on a big right hand but Mouth slips the punch.

Alves throws a right and a left that Mouth avoids nicely.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Mouth tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alves paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mouth misses with a hook
and Alves makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Alves throws a head kick that misses.
Alves throws a sloppy head kick and Mouth moves out of range easily.
Daniel Alves is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Alves throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Alves tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Alves pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Alves throws a right and a left that Mouth avoids nicely.
Mouth showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Alves.
Alves looks gassed!
Mouth tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Alves swivels and escapes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Mouth tries to clinch up
and Alves counters with a flying knee. Nice.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Daniel Alves dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Alves throws a leg kick

and Mouth counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Alves breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Mouth gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Alves counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Mouth is lucky that one didn't land flush.

and Mouth holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Mouth drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Alves gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Mouth goes for a takedown in the clinch but Alves prevents it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mush Mouth. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Mouth has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Alves is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Alves gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Mouth.

Alves breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Mouth changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Alves looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Mouth tries for a kimura but Alves is defending well.
Alves wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Alves prevents Mouth from improving position.
Mouth tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Mouth wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Alves, who protects the arm well.
Alves wants to get back to his feet but Mouth drags him back down.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alves prevents Mouth from improving position.

Mouth thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Mouth advances to mount.
Alves is trying to stand.
Mouth can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Alves is looking to escape.

Alves defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mouth.
Alves's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Mouth is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Alves has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Alves!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mouth is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mouth looking for a guillotine here but Alves defends easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Mush Mouth will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Alves throws a head kick that misses
and Mouth counters with a stiff right hand.
Mouth doesn't manage to clinch there - Alves circles away.
Mouth wants to clinch but Alves slips to the side
and Alves counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Daniel Alves is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Alves misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Mouth misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No luck for Mouth with that takedown attempt.
Alves stuffs the takedown.

Mouth throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Alves's waist but Alves gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Mouth off to one side.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Mush Mouth. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Mouth counters with a right hand to the body.
Mouth lands a right hook to the body.
Alves throws a lazy head kick

and Mouth counters with a takedown into side control.
Alves takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Mouth landing a few strikes.

Mouth thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Mouth misses with the ground and pound.

Alves prevents Mouth from moving into mount.
Mouth in side control, throwing shots but Alves defends.

Mouth is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Alves knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Mouth wants to control but Alves is keeping him busy.
Mouth is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Alves is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Alves pushes Mouth away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Mouth gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Mouth tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Alves throws a sloppy head kick
and Mouth counters with a two punch combo.
Mouth takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Alves blocks a jab.
Mouth is looking to clinch but Alves is avoiding it.
Alves throws a sloppy head kick

and Mouth counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Mouth works his foot free and advances to mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alves can do anything to dispel that myth.

Mouth looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Alves tries to buck Mouth off but he can't manage it.
Mouth landing shots from mount.

Mouth quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Mouth but it's paid off an Alves is forced to tap! Nice work by Mouth.
