Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Logan Cullen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitch Hughes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Logan Cullen has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Logan Cullen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mitch Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Anthony Taglia and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cullen shoots in for a double leg but Hughes sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Cullen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hughes pinned against the cage. Hughes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Cullen scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Cullen remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Hughes gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Hughes wants to get back to full guard.
Hughes makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Hughes.
Hughes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Hughes stuffs the takedown.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Cullen changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hughes tries to avoid it but Cullen manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hughes to the ground. Hughes escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Cullen is breathing heavily.
Cullen fails to land the takedown.

Hughes closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Cullen throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Hughes blocks it with crossed arms.
Cullen stops a takedown attempt from Hughes.
Cullen tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Hughes is pressed up against the cage. Cullen has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hughes down to the mat. Hughes avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Hughes pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Hughes throws a right and a left that Cullen avoids nicely.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Hughes breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cullen circles away from the clinch attempt.
Logan Cullen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Hughes closes this distance looking for a takedown but Cullen circles away.
Cullen fails in his attempt to clinch.

Hughes rushes Cullen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cullen misses with a knee to the head.

Hughes pulls guard effortlessly.
Hughes has his hands on Cullen's head, controlling the position.

Hughes is trying to control the position but Cullen postures up.
Hughes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cullen has a hand on Hughes's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Hughes takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Hughes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Cullen holds on to Hughes around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Mitch Hughes dominated that round.

Hughes throws a series of punches but Cullen avoids them all with ease.
Cullen tries to clinch
and Hughes counters with a one-two to the body.
Hughes tries a head kick but it misses.

Hughes moves into the clinch successfully.
Cullen drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Hughes gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Hughes has clasped his hands together around Cullen's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Cullen is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Hughes throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Cullen sneaks out the side door and pushes Hughes away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Cullen misses with a takedown attempt - Hughes sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

and Cullen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Cullen.

Cullen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hughes is proving hard to escape from.
Hughes pulls Cullen in close to prevent any damage.
Cullen wants to control from the top but Hughes keeps moving.
Hughes is trying to hold Cullen in close to prevent damage but Cullen has managed to pass into half guard.

and Hughes counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Hughes.

Cullen has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Hughes clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!

Hughes wants to escape the position.

Cullen is looking for the choke from the back position but Hughes is controlling his hands well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hughes is covering up but some of the strikes from Cullen are getting through and doing damage.
Logan Cullen overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hughes is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Cullen gets his way!
I would not like to be Hughes right now.
Hughes covers up after that shot from Cullen.
Cullen really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Hughes.

Cullen is looking for the choke from the back position but Hughes is controlling his hands well.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Cullen has control of Hughes's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hughes regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hughes wants to hold on but Cullen pushes him away.
Cullen takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hughes tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Cullen controlling the pace for now.
Hughes wants to control but Cullen is having none of it.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hughes is wriggling around trying to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Logan Cullen dominated that second round.
That's time! Cullen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Cullen feints and as Hughes raises his hands in defense, Cullen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Cullen looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Hughes is fending him off so far but Cullen persists. Nope, Hughes circles away and we're back to standing.

Hughes darts in and clinches Cullen up against the cage.
Cullen tries to pull guard but Hughes holds him up against the cage and eventually Cullen drops back down to his feet.
Cullen changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Hughes fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Logan Cullen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hughes lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Cullen at a distance.
Cullen jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Cullen shoots in and drives through. Hughes sprawls well.
Cullen fails with the takedown
and Hughes counters with a thumping low kick.
Hughes tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

And that's the end of the fight!
Logan Cullen showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Cullen has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
