Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ste McGhee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Harry The Hatchett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ste McGhee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Harry The Hatchett!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGhee misses with a takedown

and The Hatchett counters with a nice double leg into side control. McGhee won't be happy with that.

McGhee is trying to buck The Hatchett off.

The Hatchett stands up and beckons McGhee to his feet.

The Hatchett gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
McGhee is breathing heavily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
McGhee postures up in The Hatchett's guard and throws a big left but The Hatchett blocks it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McGhee landing some decent shots from guard.
McGhee won't allow The Hatchett to get back to his feet.
McGhee is looking to work some ground and pound but The Hatchett has wrist control.
McGhee throws a big elbow that misses.
McGhee will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The Hatchett is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McGhee defends well.
McGhee loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

The Hatchett escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. McGhee gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The Hatchett manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. McGhee manages to get himself to full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
McGhee is pulling down on The Hatchett's head. It's preventing any offense from The Hatchett, at least for the moment.
The Hatchett has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of McGhee is proving hard to escape from.
McGhee looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
McGhee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in The Hatchett's guard.

The Hatchett has his foot on McGhee's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. McGhee works his way back into a safe position though.
The Hatchett lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for McGhee!
McGhee is looking to improve his position but The Hatchett isn't that keen on the idea.
McGhee tries to hold on but The Hatchett pushes him away.
The Hatchett is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. McGhee can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
McGhee is trying to stand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

McGhee wants to hold on but The Hatchett pushes him away.

The Hatchett has control of McGhee's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and McGhee regains control of the situation pretty easily.
McGhee is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
McGhee on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if McGhee tries to get out of the position.

McGhee is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
The Hatchett wants to control the pace but McGhee is squirming around nicely.

The Hatchett jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… McGhee is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by McGhee and The Hatchett has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Harry The Hatchett dominated that round.
That's time! McGhee's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


McGhee tries to score a power double leg takedown but The Hatchett sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten McGhee somewhat.
Ste McGhee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from McGhee is defended easily by The Hatchett.

The Hatchett feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Harry The Hatchett wasn't active enough on the ground.

McGhee slaps away a takedown attempt from The Hatchett, before circling back to the center of the mat.

The Hatchett closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into McGhee's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Harry The Hatchett showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
