The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ortiz fails with a takedown attempt.
Ortiz looks for a takedown but Verdun sprawls well.
Ortiz tries a head kick but it misses.
Verdun stuffs the takedown attempt from Ortiz. Ortiz gets slowly back to his feet.
Mathias Verdun has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Ortiz.
Ortiz fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Verdun avoids it really well and circles away.

and Verdun counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Ortiz's guard now.
