Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Wes Simms! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Gerry Humber! The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simms avoids a kick to the body.
Humber tries for a takedown but Simms circles away easily and Humber takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Simms swinging wildly here.
Humber avoids the body shot from Simms.
Humber lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Simms circles away quickly and effectively. Humber shoots in for a takedown but Simms shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Simms throws a hook to the side of Humber's head but Humber sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Humber wants to clinch up but Simms keeps it at a distance. Simms throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Humber shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Simms but Simms pushes him off and we're back to square one. Wes Simms has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerry Humber. Humber drives through and clinches with Simms against the cage.

That was a close round but I would say that Wes Simms will probably get the nod. That's time! Simms's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Simms looks to score with a jab to the body but Humber is just out of range. Humber tries to clinch but Simms is having none of it. Humber has his takedown stuffed and Simms counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Wes Simms has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerry Humber. Humber is breathing heavily. Humber misses with a takedown and Simms counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Simms has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Humber has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Humber there as he acknowledges the shot. Simms throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Simms misses with a looping left. Humber tries for a takedown but Simms circles away easily and Simms counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Simms keeps Humber at a distance using the push kick. Simms ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Humber moves away. A looping hook to the body misses from Simms. Humber does a little dance to reset his feet.

Humber takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Humber shoots for a double leg takedown but Simms sprawls well. He's pushed Humber's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Humber gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Simms counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Humber tries to clinch up and Simms counters with a head kick. That will keep Humber thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

Humber with a lazy takedown attempt and Simms counters with a nice kick to the body. Humber displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Simms throws out the jab. Some wild striking there from Simms.
Humber closes the distance but Simms moves to the side and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Humber wants to clinch but Simms slips to the side and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Simms throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Humber sees it coming and avoids it easily. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Wes Simms dominated that second round. That's time! Back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.
Simms pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Simms thows a body shot but no joy. Simms misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Humber shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Simms as he avoids it easily. Humber fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Humber tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Simms circles away from the clinch attempt and Simms counters with a good low kick that Humber was not able to check.

A combination from Humber does no damage. Humber takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Simms circles away from the clinch attempt and Simms counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Humber is lucky that one didn't land flush. Simms throws a low kick but it's checked well by Humber. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Simms. Humber wants to clinch but Simms slips to the side and Simms counters with an inside leg kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Simms throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Humber gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Simms counters with a good, hard body kick but Humber shrugs it off. Wes Simms has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerry Humber. Humber tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Simms swivels and escapes. Simms misses the shot to the body. Simms attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Simms misses with an uppercut. Humber saw that one coming. Humber shoots and misses and Simms makes the exchange count by landing a cracking kick to the body. Humber really felt that one!
