Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Vlad Trance!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chris The Great!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Hirohito Nitta and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Great lands with a good body shot.
The Great tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Trance was well out of range. Poor timing from The Great.
Nice takedown defense from The Great. No joy for Trance on that attempt.

The Great looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The Great is thwarting Trance's attempts to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The Great takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The Great wants to take a breather but Trance is having none of it.

The Great is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Trance has managed to free his arm - good work.
The Great keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action.
The Great tries to pass to full mount but Trance defends it.
Trance moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
The Great passes into half guard.
The Great is trying to control the action in half guard but Trance is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

The Great is working for a kimura but Trance is defending it quite comfortably.
Trance is looking to improve his position.
Trance gets back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The Great trying to control the position from guard on top but Trance is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Trance has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The Great wants to control from the top but Trance keeps moving.

Trance throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Trance isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. The Great stacks Trance on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by The Great!
Trance is trying to get back to half guard.

The Great advances to mount.
Trance is working to get back to half guard.
The Great controlling from the full mount.

The Great looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Trance is trying desperately to improve position.

The Great has hold of Trance's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Trance manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Trance is in all sorts of trouble here.

The Great is standing up, even though he is in mount.
The Great shoots in looking for a takedown but Trance manages to keep the fight standing, pushing The Great's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The Great takes a swing at Trance's ribcage but misses.

The Great drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chris The Great dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!


The Great closes the distance and clinches up with Trance, looking for a takedown. The Great pushes Trance against the cage but Trance circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

The Great changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Trance looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Trance manages to work his way to half guard, despite The Great's best efforts.
Trance is looking to control The Great's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Trance avoid being mounted?
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Chris The Great has got the better of the ground game so far.
The Great is looking to take a break and control but Trance is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The Great tries to pass to full mount but Trance defends it.

Trance with the active half guard here but The Great passes nicely into side control.

The Great has an Americana. Trance didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! The Great is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if The Great hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Chris The Great! Chris The Great retains his welterweight title!
