PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Pearce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Abel Harris (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pearce comes to the cage accompanied by Enter Sandman (Metallica). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Michael Pearce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Abel Harris!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Donald Grub and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pearce looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Harris blocking the ground and pound attempt from Pearce.
Pearce throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Harris looks like he's trying to stand up.

Harris kicks off Pearce and gets to his feet.
Harris tries to clinch there but Pearce circles away.
Harris is looking to clinch but Pearce is avoiding it.
Pearce avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Harris bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Pearce's head backwards.
Harris fails in his attempt to clinch.

Pearce darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Harris kicks Pearce off and gets back to his feet.
Pearce throws a leg kick but Harris sees it coming and moves out of range.
Harris throws the left hand but Pearce avoids the punch easily.
Nice takedown defense from Harris. No joy for Pearce on that attempt.
Abel Harris seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Harris throws a shot from downtown. Pearce moves away and avoids it.

Harris has managed to clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Harris gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Pearce.

Pearce has Harris pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Pearce pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Harris tumbling to the mat - Pearce dives into Harris's guard.

Pearce has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Harris misses with a jab, cross combination.
Pearce lands a right hook to the body.

Pearce keeps the fight on the outside.
Pearce shoots in looking for a takedown. Harris tries to sprawl out of it but Pearce keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Harris manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Pearce. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Pearce throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Harris.
A nice combination there by Harris.
Pearce with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Harris to score with a decent uppercut.
Pearce shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.

Harris fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Pearce, pushing him back against the cage.
Harris is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Harris has had enough of the clinch but Pearce keeps him there for the moment.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Pearce struggles to land a body shot inside as Harris controls his hands.

Harris has had enough of the clinch but Pearce keeps him there for the moment.
Pearce fails to pull the fight into his guard.

Harris breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Pearce feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Pearce keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Harris's head.

Pearce sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Harris's guard.

Pearce is trying to work for a kimura but Harris is defending well.

Pearce prevents Harris from standing back up.
Harris works his way to full guard. Good work.

Harris pushes Pearce off looking to stand but Pearce dives back in and keeps control.

Pearce drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Pearce drops back looking for a leg! Harris is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Harris manages to kick Pearce off! Pearce jumps back into Harris's guard.
Harris is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Harris is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Harris lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Michael Pearce will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Harris throws a shot from downtown. Pearce moves away and avoids it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pearce is tying to control. Harris wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Pearce not doing much here.

Pearce wants to free his trapped foot but Harris is holding on for dear life with his legs.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Harris wants to improve his position but Pearce is controlling well.

Harris kicks off Pearce and gets to his feet.
Pearce uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Harris.
Michael Pearce is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Harris throws the left hand but Pearce avoids the punch easily.
Harris tries to bum rush Pearce with a series of wild strikes but Pearce uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Harris throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Pearce on the side of the head.
Harris connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Harris lands with a big right hook that stumbles Pearce - he's out on his feet here! Harris follows up with another monster hook that separates Pearce from consciousness! Pearce falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Harris stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Abel Harris!
