Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Brute Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Liam Lam (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liam Lam struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 147.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. Brute Lee has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brute Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Liam Lam!
The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Roberts and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lee.
Lee has a takedown stuffed.
Lee moves out of range of the body kick.

Lam has taken the fight to the clinch.

Lee jumps guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Lam gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Nice sprawl there from Lam as Lee shoots in.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brute Lee. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Lee circles away from the clinch attempt.

Lam moves into the clinch successfully.
Lee tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Lam smiles and moves away.

and Lam counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Lee is trying to keep Lam in close.

Lam stands and throws Lee's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Lam slows the pace down.

Lam is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lee is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Lee looks to move to half guard but instead Lam has passed into mount! Damn!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lee tries to lock up and control but Lam gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Lam controlling the position easily from mount.
Lee tries to reverse the position but Lam maintains control.

Lam stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Lam looks gassed!
Lam gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Lam darts in and clinches Lee up against the cage.

Lee manages to break the clinch.
Lee shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

so Lam counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Lam passes Lee's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Lee trying to control from the bottom.

Lam seems to be working for a kimura but Lee defends the submission attempt.
Lee pushes Lam off looking to stand but Lam dives back in and keeps control.
Lam takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lam works his way into full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Lam stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Lee shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Lam moves into the clinch.
Lam lands a knee to the head.


It looks like Brute Lee has been cut.
Lam lands a left hand that snaps the head of Lee backwards.
Lee tries to pull guard but Lam holds him up against the cage and eventually Lee drops back down to his feet.
Lam misses with a knee to the head.

Lam escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Brute Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lee tries for a takedown but Lam circles away easily

so Lam counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Liam Lam dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Brute Lee's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Lam shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Lam was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Lee tries to lock up and control but Lam gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Lee is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Lee is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Lee wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Lee wants to escape the position.
Lam doesn't have the hooks in and Lee manages to turn into his guard.
Lam is breathing heavily.
Lee throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Lam circles away from the clinch attempt

and Lam counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Lee had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Lam is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Lee Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Lam's back instead.
Lee throwing lazy shots from the back mount that aren't doing any damage.

Lee trying to control momentarily.
Lam just trying to survive but Lee is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Lee trying desperately to keep hold of the dominant position.
Lee doesn't have the hooks in and Lam manages to turn into his guard.
Liam Lam has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lee controls Lam momentarily but Lam frees himself.
Lam won't allow Lee to sweep him here.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lee has his takedown stuffed

and Lam counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Lee!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Lee squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Lam looking to control and managing it successfully.
Let's hope that Lam has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Lam is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Lee is defending well though. Lam let's go of the attempt for now.
Will Lam go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Lee covers up after that shot from Lam.
Lam throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Lee!
Lam connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Lee to escape the position.
Lee is covering up but some of the strikes from Lam are getting through and doing damage.

Lam has the hooks in and he's looking for a rear naked choke here. Lee is defending well but eventually Lam manages to get an arm under the chin and he's locked on the RNC! Lee has no choice but to tap now! He does! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:55 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Liam Lam!
