Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Paul Ribiero (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eli Savage (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Savage's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Savage duly obliges.
It looks like Paul Ribiero has been cut. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ribiero. Savage throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Savage throws a low kick but it's checked well by Ribiero. Savage displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. Ribiero uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Savage. Savage swings away with a leg kick that misses. Ribiero shoots for a double leg takedown but Savage sprawls well. He's pushed Ribiero's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Ribiero lands a head kick!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! A low kick from Savage is predictable there and Ribiero moves into the clinch. Savage tries to bum rush Ribiero with a series of wild strikes but Ribiero uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Ribiero shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Savage sprawls well. Ribiero's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Savage lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Savage moves into the clinch. Savage successfully pulls guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Savage looking for a sweep. Not yet Savage, not yet. Ribiero trying to control the position from guard on top but Savage is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Ribiero wants to pass the guard but Savage is keeping the position.

Savage pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Ribiero looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Savage is fending him off so far but Ribiero persists. Savage lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Ribiero. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Ribiero takes a shot to the head. Ribiero keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Savage's efforts to push away. Ribiero is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Savage pulls him back up using the underhooks. Ribiero breaks from the clinch.
A punch combination from Savage misses. Savage closes the distance and lands a one-two. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Savage fails in his attempt to clinch. Savage closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Ribiero's guard. Savage stopping the sweep attempt from Ribiero. Savage thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Savage stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Savage wants it to stay on the feet. Savage scores with a hook. Ribiero avoids the body shot from Savage.

A bit of a stalemate here. Ribiero connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Savage to escape the position.
