Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kenneth Somme (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Dobbin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Kenneth Somme has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Kenneth Somme!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of London, Gary Dobbin!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Colin Fotheringham and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dobbin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Somme on his heels. He'll look to pass Somme's guard now, I'm sure.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Dobbin sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Dobbin passes Somme's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Somme on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Somme tries to kick Dobbin off but Dobbin keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Somme wants to control but Dobbin is keeping busy.
Somme is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Dobbin scores with a couple of nice shots.

Somme looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Somme wants to get back to full guard.
Well, if Dobbin is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Dobbin winds up and cracks Somme with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Somme knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dobbin on the ground.

Dobbin tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Somme is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Dobbin is controlling him well.
Dobbin is staying tight to Somme's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Dobbin lands a nice forearm strike.

Dobbin decides to stand back up. Dobbin steps back and let's Somme get back to his feet.
Somme keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Dobbin decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Horrible takedown by Somme or perhaps it was just good defense by Dobbin which made him look bad.
Somme is breathing heavily.

Dobbin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Somme on his heels. He'll look to pass Somme's guard now, I'm sure.

We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Dobbin is pushing down on Somme's leg trying to pass to half guard. Somme is fighting to maintain full guard but Dobbin has managed to sneak the leg through.

Somme tries to close the distance and clinch up but Dobbin swats him away and circles back towards the center.

so Dobbin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Dobbin sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Somme's guard.
Dobbin is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Dobbin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Somme with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Dobbin is nestled in close to Somme, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Dobbin is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

Dobbin is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Somme has managed to free his arm - good work.

Dobbin is trying to control. Somme wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Dobbin decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Somme displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Dobbin.
Somme darts in trying to clinch

and Dobbin holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
Somme is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Somme tries a knee to the head but Dobbin blocks it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Dobbin can't find room to land a body shot as Somme controls the action.
A head punch on the inside from Somme fails to land.
Somme has Dobbin pressed up against the ropes and is working for takedown. Dobbin manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Dobbin is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the ropes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Dobbin shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Dobbin trying to control but Somme is working from the bottom.

Dobbin decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Dobbin drives through with a takedown into guard.

Dobbin gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Dobbin tries for a takedown but Somme sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Somme tries to close the distance and clinch but Dobbin swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Dobbin shoots in for a double leg but Somme sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kenneth Somme seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Somme is trying to stand up here but Dobbin is controlling him well.
Dobbin perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Somme wants to stand back up but Dobbin manages to pass into side control.
Dobbin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Dobbin has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Dobbin shoots in for a takedown but Somme shows good takedown defense.

Somme has had enough of the clinch but Dobbin keeps him there for the moment.

Dobbin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Gary Dobbin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Somme pushes Dobbin away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Dobbin gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Dobbin fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Dobbin has hold of Somme's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Somme manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Dobbin has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Somme's face.

Dobbin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Dobbin is landing with some decent strikes but Somme is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Somme's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Dobbin is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Somme with him. Somme is trying to defend but Dobbin has an arm under the chin now! Somme grimaces and is forced to tap out!
