Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Willy Pete! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Nick Diaz! The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Diaz fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Pete lands a nice shot that snaps Diaz's head back.
Some bone on bone action there as Diaz checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Diaz gets a clinch. Diaz jumps guard but Pete stands there with Diaz around his waist. Diaz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Diaz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pete just stands there and leans against the cage. Willy Pete has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Diaz. Pete with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Diaz tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Diaz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pete just stands there and leans against the cage. Diaz jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Pete walks away with a smile on his face. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head. Willy Pete seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Diaz closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Pete is pushing Diaz up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word. Diaz tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pete just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Diaz tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pete smiles and moves away.
Nice defenses there by Diaz. Pete scoring well with a low kick there.
Nice sprawl there from Pete as Diaz shoots in. Pete connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Diaz momentarily.
Pete scores with a jab to the jaw. Diaz fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Pete swinging wildly here.
Diaz shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Pete counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pete tries to land a leg kick but Diaz saw it coming and moves away.
Pete throws a body punch but Diaz moves out of range. That kick from Pete tenderised Diaz's leg. Diaz is trying to keep his angry face on. Pete swings widly with a right hand
and Diaz counters with a nice double leg into guard. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Pete pulls Diaz in to control the position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Pete is on top in guard.
Pete got a little sloppy there for a moment and Diaz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pete has managed to get both his arms back between Diaz's legs - danger averted. Diaz looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pete controlling from the top position. Diaz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pete defends well. Pete got a little sloppy there for a moment and Diaz has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pete has managed to get both his arms back between Diaz's legs - danger averted.

Diaz tries to bench press Pete off him but Pete keeps the position. Pete decides to take the fight back to the feet. Pete throws a big shot that misses. Pete throws a leg kick which misses Diaz's front leg but catches the back leg as Diaz tries to avoid it. Willy Pete is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pete fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Diaz checks it well. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Diaz bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Pete throws a series of punches but Diaz avoids them all with ease. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's one minute gone in the round. Pete throws a hook to the side of Diaz's head but Diaz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Diaz throws a looping overhand right but Pete ducks down to avoid it. Pete takes a swing at Diaz's ribcage but misses. Pete throws a sloppy body shot
and Diaz counters with a left to the body. Willy Pete is winning the standup battle so far. Pete's corner calls for a 1-2. Pete obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Diaz takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt - Pete sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Pete stuffs the takedown. Willy Pete has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Diaz. Pete works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pete comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Diaz fails to land the takedown. No luck with that takedown attempt from Diaz. Diaz walks into a stiff left hand from Pete. Diaz tries for a takedown but Pete sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Diaz uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Pete.
Pete lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Diaz at a distance.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pete lands with an overhand left. Pete tries to close the distance and clinch up but Diaz swats him away and circles back towards the center. Diaz misses with a series of wild punches.
Pete fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Diaz manages to avoid it. Pete forces Diaz back against the cage and clinches. Pete taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Diaz jumps guard but Pete stands there with Diaz around his waist. Diaz gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Diaz pulls guard. Diaz keeping moving, preventing Pete from controlling successfully. Diaz wants to sweep but no luck.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Pete passes into half guard. Diaz looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Diaz is in trouble now - Pete has advanced to mount! Pete looking to control but Diaz is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Diaz working to try and regain half guard.
Nick Diaz has got the better of the ground game so far. Diaz is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Pete has taken his back.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pete works over Diaz's head and body with a nice combination. Diaz takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Pete tries to clinch but Diaz moves out of range. Diaz slips under a jab from Pete. Diaz takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Diaz avoids the body shot from Pete.
Pete swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Pete moves in looking to clinch but Diaz pushes him off.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pete looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Diaz is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Pete. Pete throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Diaz displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pete throws out the jab. Pete throws out a loose jab but Diaz uses good head movement to avoid it. Diaz takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Pete tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Diaz paws at him with a jab and circles away. Diaz shoots in for a double leg but Pete sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Diaz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Pete pinned against the cage. Pete gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Pete throws a body punch but Diaz moves out of range. Pete throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Diaz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Pete sprawls well. Pete wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Diaz gets slowly back to his feet. Willy Pete has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nick Diaz. Pete throws a chopping leg kick but Diaz manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Pete swings and misses with a shot to the body and Diaz holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
