Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Laurent Blanc!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Arthur Vengrio!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Sosuke Kotani.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Blanc tries to move into range but Vengrio moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Blanc is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Vengrio.
Laurent Blanc seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Blanc misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Blanc misses with a takedown attempt - Vengrio sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Blanc tries for a takedown but Vengrio sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Laurent Blanc. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Blanc closes the distance and clinches up with Vengrio, looking for a takedown. Blanc pushes Vengrio against the cage but Vengrio circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Vengrio fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Blanc, pushing him back against the cage.
Vengrio drops Blanc onto one knee with a big uppercut from the clinch! Blanc is propped up by the cage and works his way back to his feet!
Blanc is rocked!
Vengrio throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Blanc is breathing heavily.
Blanc tries to score a body lock takedown but Vengrio shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Vengrio is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Vengrio gets underhooks to prevent Blanc's takedown attempt.
Vengrio will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Blanc up against the cage.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Vengrio.
It looks like Laurent Blanc has been cut.
Vengrio controlling the position using the Thai clinch, unloads with a massive knee! Boom! He's out cold and slumps to the floor against the cage! I can't wait to see the slow motion replay of that one!
