PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aleksandr Gurakovskiy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alexander Zalachenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gurakovskiy comes into the arena with Hollywood Undead - Levitate blaring out of the sound system. Zalachenko has chosen Torture Chamber as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Aleksandr Gurakovskiy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alexander Zalachenko!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gurakovskiy takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Zalachenko sizes up Gurakovskiy with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Zalachenko slips a straight right by Gurakovskiy.
Gurakovskiy swats away the attempt to clinch by Zalachenko.
Zalachenko tries to clinch up.
Gurakovskiy on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Zalachenko, as that shot connected.
Gurakovskiy shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Zalachenko pinned against the ropes. Zalachenko gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Zalachenko gets a clinch.

Zalachenko breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Zalachenko tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Gurakovskiy manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Zalachenko clobbers Gurakovskiy with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Zalachenko clinches up with Gurakovskiy and pushes him back against the ropes.

Zalachenko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Zalachenko throws a body punch but Gurakovskiy moves out of range.
Zalachenko lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Zalachenko paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Gurakovskiy misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Gurakovskiy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Zalachenko stuffs the takedown attempt from Gurakovskiy. Gurakovskiy gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aleksandr Gurakovskiy. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Alexander Zalachenko seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Gurakovskiy connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
No joy there for Zalachenko, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Gurakovskiy lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Zalachenko circles away quickly and effectively.
Zalachenko wants to clinch up but Gurakovskiy keeps it at a distance.

Gurakovskiy is trying hard to land a takedown here. Zalachenko sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Ouch! a nice leg kick from Zalachenko, right into the meat.

Zalachenko feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Gurakovskiys jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Zalachenko has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Gurakovskiy avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The fight stays on the outside here - Zalachenko looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Zalachenko doesn't manage to clinch there - Gurakovskiy circles away.
Alexander Zalachenko is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
The crowd cheers as Zalachenko lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gurakovskiy doesn't seem phased though.

Zalachenko moves into range and clinches up with Gurakovskiy.

Zalachenko's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Zalachenko is looking to clinch but Gurakovskiy is avoiding it.
Gurakovskiy is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Zalachenko is not content to let Gurakovskiy control the position.
Zalachenko wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Gurakovskiy swings around for an armbar but Zalachenko sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Gurakovskiy's guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gurakovskiy working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Zalachenko doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Zalachenko manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Gurakovskiy fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Zalachenko to the ground. Gurakovskiy is now in Zalachenko's guard.

Gurakovskiy drops back looking for a leg! Zalachenko is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Zalachenko manages to kick Gurakovskiy off! Gurakovskiy jumps back into Zalachenko's guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Gurakovskiy might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Gurakovskiy is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gurakovskiy drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Zalachenko manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gurakovskiy has Zalachenko in his guard.

Zalachenko trying to stand up but can't free himself from Gurakovskiy's guard.
Gurakovskiy is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Gurakovskiy escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Zalachenko gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Zalachenko must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gurakovskiy not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Zalachenko would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Zalachenko is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Gurakovskiy has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Zalachenko is looking to defend but Gurakovskiy has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Zalachenko! Gurakovskiy pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Zalachenko taps out and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Aleksandr Gurakovskiy!
