Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Frankie Edgar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tommy Fire (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tommy Fire is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 1, fighting out of New York, Frankie Edgar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 4 - 1, fighting out of New York, Tommy Fire! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Jorge Garcia and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Edgar closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Fire did well to prevent Edgar getting side control. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Fire is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Edgar's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Edgar's back! What's going on here? Fire has decided to give up on the ground game despite having his opponent's back!
Fire lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Edgar is looking to score with low kicks. Fire shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Edgar eats them both and turns towards Fire to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Edgar shoots in looking for a takedown but Fire manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Edgar's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Edgar gets the takedown into side control. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fire can do anything to dispel that myth. Fire defending against the ground and pound. Edgar is looking to take a break and control but Fire is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Fire can't do much from the bottom here. Edgar in side control, throwing shots but Fire defends. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fire is looking to regain half guard here but Edgar keeps moving and retains side control. Fire takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Fire manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Edgar controlling the position for now. Fire gets to his feet - back to striking we go! Fire looks gassed! Edgar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Edgar wants to stand but Fire is controlling his arm. The strikes coming from Edgar are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Edgar wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fire keeps working. Edgar looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Fire prevents Edgar from improving position. Fire wants to get back to his feet. Edgar landing strikes. Edgar working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Edgar is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fire knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edgar wants to stand but Fire has his arm trapped. Edgar trying to control the position but Fire is working away. Edgar working the strikes but Fire uses the opportunity to regain half guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Edgar is nestled in close to Fire, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Edgar is stalling here. Fire is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Edgar seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Fire has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work. Edgar is holding Fire down, trying to stall. Edgar is trying to control Fire's posture but Fire avoids it. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Edgar is trying to get back to half guard. Fire stands up and we're back to a striking position. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frankie Edgar dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Fire gets caught flat footed, as Edgar shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Edgar scoring with punches to the head and body. Edgar content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Fire is pulling down on Edgar's head. It's preventing any offense from Edgar, at least for the moment. Fire's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Fire keeping moving, preventing Edgar from controlling successfully. Fire is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
That's one minute gone in the round. Edgar with a flurry of punches that miss. Edgar working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Tommy Fire was stalling too much, according to the referee. Nice sprawl there from Edgar as Fire shoots in. Fire is breathing heavily. Fire stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Fire wants it to stay on the feet. Edgar avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Fire is looking to clinch. Edgar moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination. Fire checks a leg kick. Edgar with a body punch. A glancing blow. Frankie Edgar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Edgar shoots for a double leg takedown but Fire sprawls well. He's pushed Edgar's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Fire defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Edgar. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frankie Edgar. That's going to take a lot out of him. Edgar fails with the takedown.

Fire misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Edgar rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Fire moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Fire gets caught napping as Edgar dives in and scores a takedown. Fire manages to retain guard. Edgar throws a strike but Fire rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Fire wants to stand but Edgar has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Edgar is controlling Fire's posture. Fire won't allow Edgar to sweep him here. Fire stands up from Edgar's guard - Fire perhaps looking for a knockout. Edgar feints and as Fire raises his hands in defense, Edgar changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Edgar working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Fire's head. Edgar pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Fire is keeping the position for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Edgar tries to stand but Fire is controlling from the bottom. Edgar throwing strikes from guard but Fire blocks nicely. Fire is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Edgar scoring with some ground and pound. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Edgar trying to control but Fire is working from the bottom. Fire bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Edgar's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Frankie Edgar dominated that second round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

A short right from Fire. Fire is struggling to control the position. Both fighters working to control the clinch. A frustrated look appears on Edgar's face as he tries to break the clinch. Fire is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Edgar changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Fire fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's one minute gone in the round. Edgar closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Fire to the mat! Fire manages to get full guard. Fire takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Edgar looking to sit in guard and control but Fire gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Fire gets to his feet. Edgar looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Edgar misses with a jab, cross combination.
Edgar lands with a nice combination. Fire backs away looking to recover. Edgar lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Edgar. Fire changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Edgar tries to avoid it but Fire manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Edgar to the ground. Edgar escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Fire blocks a head kick by Edgar.

Edgar dives in and grabs Fire's left leg, looking for a takedown. Fire pushes down on Edgar's head and hops out. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frankie Edgar. That's going to take a lot out of him. Fire moves out of range as Edgar throws a body kick.

Fire rushes Edgar and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. Edgar changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Fire fights it off and pushes away nicely.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Edgar slips a jab from Fire. Edgar scores with a takedown into Fire's guard. Frankie Edgar overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Edgar trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Fire is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Edgar trying to control the position from guard on top but Fire is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Fire working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Edgar.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Edgar looking to pass the guard. Edgar is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Fire is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Fire has escaped and now he's on top! Fire trying to stand up but can't free himself from Edgar's guard. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Edgar has his foot on Fire's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fire works his way back into a safe position though.
And that's the end of the fight! Frankie Edgar showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Edgar, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
