PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dan Liddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brian Schulte (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddell's entrance music is George Straits- The Fireman. A fine choice. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Liddell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Brian Schulte!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Robert Twigg and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Liddell fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Schulte manages to avoid it.
Nice defenses there by Liddell.
Schulte swats away the attempt to clinch by Liddell.
Liddell smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Schulte swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Liddell throws the kick towards the body but Schulte avoids it.
Schulte shoots in looking for a takedown. Liddell tries to sprawl out of it but Schulte keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Liddell manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Liddell throws a jab but it's blocked by Schulte.
Liddell connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.


It looks like Brian Schulte has been cut.
Schulte shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Liddell defends it nicely.

Liddell throws a right hand that Schulte ducks under and follows up with a left that Schulte also avoids with ease.

enabling Schulte to counter with a crisp jab.
Schulte connects with a nice looking jab.
Liddell misses with a hook. Schulte ducked under it nicely.
Liddell with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Schulte paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

No joy there for Liddell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Schulte takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Liddell walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Schulte checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Dan Liddell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brian Schulte.

Liddell on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Schulte dives in and grabs Liddell's left leg, looking for a takedown. Liddell pushes down on Schulte's head and hops out.

Liddell shoots for a double leg takedown but Schulte sprawls well. He's pushed Liddell's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Schulte counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Schulte dives in and grabs Liddell's left leg, looking for a takedown. Liddell pushes down on Schulte's head and hops out.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Schulte shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Liddell's guard.

Liddell bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Schulte's guard.
Liddell postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Liddell has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Schulte manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Schulte fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Schulte avoids the attempt from Liddell to control.
BOOM! Schulte connects with a massive shot to the dome!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Schulte shoots and misses
and Liddell connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Schulte throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Schulte lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Liddell lands a slapping body shot.
Dan Liddell is winning the standup battle so far.
Schulte tries to score a power double leg takedown but Liddell sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Schulte somewhat.
Schulte scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Schulte accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Liddell seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

I think Schulte has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
