PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Stan Marsh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Silver Hawk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Stan Marsh!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Silver Hawk!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Dillan Fox and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marsh throws a combination that misses

and Hawk decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Marsh's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hawk stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Marsh swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hawk with a flurry of punches that miss.

Marsh pulls Hawk in close to prevent any damage.

Hawk drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Marsh manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Hawk has Marsh in his guard.
Hawk looking to hit a scissor sweep but Marsh is one step ahead there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Hawk is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Marsh trying to control but Hawk is working from the bottom.
Marsh's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Hawk escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Marsh gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Hawk not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Marsh distracts Hawk with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Marsh throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Marsh might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Hawk has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Marsh can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Marsh drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Marsh jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Hawk looking for a sweep. Not yet Hawk, not yet.
Marsh controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

We're going to have a standup here because Stan Marsh wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Hawk fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Marsh lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Hawk closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Hawk pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Marsh back to the cage. Hawk follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
Hawk dodges the punch combination from Marsh.

Marsh throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hawk.
Hawk fails with an attempt to clinch.
Marsh throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Hawk counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Hawk swats away the attempt to clinch by Marsh.
Hawk connects with an inside leg kick.
Marsh stalks Hawk and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Hawk's face. Hawk staggers backwards, shaken.
Hawk tries to clinch but Marsh is having none of it.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Marsh throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Marsh moves into the clinch successfully.

Marsh breaks the clinch.
Stan Marsh is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Hawk throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Stan Marsh will probably get the nod.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Stan Marsh is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hawk doesn't succeed with the takedown

Marsh moves into range and connects with a jab.
Marsh misses with a left hand

and Hawk counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Marsh holds on and takes a little breather.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Marsh has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Hawk is breathing heavily.

Stan Marsh has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Marsh lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hawk circles away quickly and effectively.
Hawk takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Hawk is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Marsh fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Marsh lands with a kick to the ribs.
Hawk throws a sloppy head kick and Marsh moves out of range easily.
Marsh cracks a nice hook into Hawk's ribs.
Hawk keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Hawk tries to keep at a distance but Marsh has taken the fight into the clinch.
Marsh lands a left hand that snaps the head of Hawk backwards.
Hawk letting Marsh take a breather here.
Hawk tries to pull guard but Marsh won't allow it.
Stan Marsh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Silver Hawk.

Marsh breaks the clinch.
Marsh misses with a hook.
Marsh lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hawk at a distance.
Marsh lands a two punch combo.
Marsh looks to land a combination. Hawk sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Marsh throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Hawk on the side of the head.

Marsh scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Hawk doesn't seem bothered though.
Marsh takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Marsh breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Marsh cracks Hawk with a right hand to the side of the head.

Marsh closes the distance and pushes Hawk back into the cage.
Marsh wants to break the clinch but can't.

Marsh breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Marsh throws a hook but Hawk avoids it easily.
Marsh lands with an uppercut that bounces Hawk off the cage and back into rage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Hawk scores with a one two! Marsh had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Hawk shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Marsh but Marsh pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Marsh pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Stan Marsh dominated that second round.
That's time! Marsh's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

A decent looking cross lands there for Marsh.

Horrible takedown by Hawk or perhaps it was just good defense by Marsh which made him look bad.

Hawk shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Marsh as he jumps to the side.
Stan Marsh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Silver Hawk.

Hawk takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hawk has had enough of the clinch but Marsh keeps him there for the moment.
Hawk keeps control of Marsh as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Stan Marsh is winning the standup battle so far.
Hawk shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Hawk takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Marsh lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hawk circles away quickly and effectively.
Decent striking displayed by Marsh there.
Hawk has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
The fight stays on the outside here - Hawk looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Stan Marsh seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Marsh throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Hawk looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Stan Marsh is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Marsh fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Hawk manages to avoid it.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Silver Hawk has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Stan Marsh showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Marsh, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
