Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Igor Vladimar! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Dan Murray! The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vladimar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Murray manages to avoid it. Murray tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Murray shoots in but no luck this time. Murray tries to clinch but Vladimar is having none of it. Vladimar keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Vladimar misses with a combination
and Murray counters by moving into the clinch. Murray keeps control of Vladimar as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Vladimar is trying to break free. Murray tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Vladimar just stands there and leans against the cage. Vladimar wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee. Vladimar has had enough of the clinch but Murray keeps him there for the moment. Vladimar can't break the clinch.
Murray jumps into guard, dragging Vladimar to the mat.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Vladimar scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Murray doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vladimar throws and elbow that misses. Murray uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Vladimar's guard. Nice move by Murray! Vladimar keeping full guard, as Murray tries to pass. Vladimar really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Murray slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Murray wants to control but Vladimar is keeping him busy. Sloppy strikes there by Murray.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Murray tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Murray has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Vladimar! Vladimar in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Vladimar holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Murray tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Vladimar wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Murray.
Murray landing strikes from the mount and Vladimar is in trouble!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Murray can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Vladimar is looking to escape. Murray working the ground and pound effectively.
Murray tries to control but Vladimar wriggling away. Murray thowing shots but they're missing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Murray controlling the pace for now. Murray lands a big shot to the head and Vladimar winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!
