PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Konstantin Snegov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and River Walken (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Walken's choice of entrance music: Flim Star by Suede. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Konstantin Snegov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 13 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, River Walken!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Ivan Kurochkin and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Walken takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Walken fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Snegov to the ground. Walken is now in Snegov's guard.
Snegov is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Snegov is looking to advance position but Walken won't allow it.

Snegov seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Snegov really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Snegov seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Walken does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Walken is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Walken working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Snegov doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Snegov manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Konstantin Snegov.

Snegov throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

This has been an exciting period of action!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Snegov is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Walken postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Snegov is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Walken, into his guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

River Walken dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the ring so we can get back down to business.


No joy there for Snegov, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

River Walken seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fighters circle momentarily. Snegov darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Walken drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Snegov manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Walken has Snegov in his guard.

Walken has his foot on Snegov's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Snegov works his way back into a safe position though.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!


Walken shoots in but Snegov avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Walken shoots in looking for a takedown but Snegov manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walken's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Walken takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Sloppy strikes from Snegov. Those never looked like landing.
Walken throws the kick towards the body but Snegov avoids it.
Walken looks for a takedown but Snegov sprawls well.
Konstantin Snegov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of River Walken.
Snegov stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

A left and a right from Snegov both land. Nice combination.


Walken is rocked!
Snegov lands a big head kick that sends Walken to the canvas! Snegov follows up with strikes from the mount that forces the ref to step in and stop the fight!
