Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eric Berger! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daniel Greene! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Konstantin Menshow.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Greene lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt. Berger throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Berger misses with a few strikes there.
Berger could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Berger tries to clinch there but Greene circles away.
Some wild striking there from Berger.
Berger tries to close the distance and clinch up but Greene swats him away and circles back towards the center. Berger tries to clinch but Greene moves out of range. Greene fails in his attempt to clinch. Greene moves into the clinch successfully.
Greene leaning his opponent against the cage. Greene lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. A nice glancing elbow lands by Greene. Berger tries a body shot but Greene blocks it.
Berger has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Greene uses from the top position. Berger wants to stand and escape but Greene is having none of it. Greene in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's one minute gone in the round. Berger striking off his back but it's not causing Greene any problems. Berger has a closed guard, preventing Greene from standing up. Greene trying to control the position from guard on top but Berger is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Greene working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Berger working for a triangle but Greene defends it easily.
This has been an exciting period of action! Berger is trying to keep Greene in close.
Greene really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Berger. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Greene won't allow Berger to sweep him here. Greene throwing strikes from guard but Berger blocks nicely. Greene preventing the sweep. Berger keeping moving, preventing Greene from controlling successfully. Berger trying to strike off his back.
Greene is looking to stand up but Berger won't let him.

Greene loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Greene must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Greene throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Berger works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Berger pulls Greene in close to prevent any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Berger keeping moving, preventing Greene from controlling successfully. Berger trying to strike off his back.

Berger might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Berger is breathing heavily. Berger keeping moving, preventing Greene from controlling successfully. Greene tries to free his leg and advance position but Berger is retaining full guard. Berger throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Berger preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Greene landing some decent shots from guard. Greene postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Berger looking for a guillotine here but Greene defends easily.
Greene wants to get up but he can't break Berger's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Greene loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Berger throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Greene in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Greene has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Berger is proving hard to escape from. Berger trying to strike off his back.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Greene tries to free his leg and advance position but Berger is retaining full guard. Greene has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Berger to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Greene is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Berger pulls down on the head and he's put Greene to sleep! This one is all over!
