Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Royce Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hernan Cortes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gracie comes to the cage accompanied by Heart of a Champion. Cortes has chosen Hard to see as his entrance music. On his way into the cage it seems that Royce Gracie has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Royce Gracie seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

11 - 4 - 1, fighting out of London, Hernan Cortes!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Chris Edwards and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cortes throws a big shot that misses.
Gracie has a takedown stuffed.
Gracie needs to keep his hands up - Cortes had a free shot at his head there.
Gracie misses with a wild body shot.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Cortes lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gracie circles away quickly and effectively.
Cortes throws a head kick but Gracie moves out of range.

Cortes avoids the body shot from Gracie.

Cortes tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Gracie manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Gracie postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Gracie throws and elbow that misses. Cortes uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Gracie's guard. Nice move by Cortes!
Cortes wants to stand but Gracie has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Gracie is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cortes wants to stand and escape but instead Gracie has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

That was a close round but I would say that Royce Gracie will probably get the nod.

Nice takedown defense from Cortes. No joy for Gracie on that attempt.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Cortes in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

That was a close second round but I would say that Royce Gracie will probably get the nod.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Gracie, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
