Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Koko LaRue!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dean Walsh!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Steve Erwin and Eliza Hachem.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
LaRue throws a head kick that Walsh semi-blocks.


It looks like Dean Walsh has been cut.
Walsh shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has LaRue pinned against the cage. LaRue gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Walsh swings widly with a right hand

and LaRue counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by LaRue.
Walsh tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. LaRue smiles and moves away.
Walsh fails with the takedown

and LaRue counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by LaRue.
Koko LaRue has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dean Walsh.
LaRue wants to pass the guard but Walsh is keeping the position.
LaRue throws a strike but Walsh rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
LaRue has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
LaRue looking to hit a scissor sweep but Walsh is one step ahead there.

That's one minute gone in the round.
LaRue working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Walsh.
LaRue keeping moving, preventing Walsh from controlling successfully.
Walsh passes into half guard.
LaRue throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Walsh thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed LaRue's head.
LaRue trying to control but Walsh postures up.
Walsh looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Walsh is trying to control the action in half guard but LaRue is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Walsh has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can LaRue defend it? Walsh steps over the head and cranks it - LaRue is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Walsh!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Dean Walsh!
