Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Karl Papke! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Douglas Amaral! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Papke throws a chopping leg kick but Amaral manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Karl Papke seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice cross by Papke. Papke fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Papke misses with a head kick.
Papke darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Amaral wants to get back to full guard. Amaral is in trouble now - Papke has advanced to mount! Papke moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Amaral has worked his arm free - good work by Amaral!
That's one minute gone in the round. Papke wants to take a breather but Amaral manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Papke. Papke has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Papke looking to sit in guard and control but Amaral gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Amaral is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Papke keeping moving, preventing Amaral from controlling successfully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Amaral slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Amaral trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Amaral is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Amaral won't allow Papke to get back to his feet. Amaral wants to control from the top but Papke keeps moving. Papke will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Papke knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Amaral on the ground.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Amaral has isolated one of Papke's arms. Papke looking to fight him off but Amaral twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
