Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Arek Skwarek!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
13 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kojo Sarpong!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Skwarek slips a jab from Sarpong.
Sarpong ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Skwarek uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Sarpong.
Skwarek tries to clinch up but Sarpong circles away and keeps his distance.
Kojo Sarpong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sarpong lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sarpong throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Sarpong displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Skwarek.
Skwarek misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Skwarek crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Sarpong - the referee stops the clock and Skwarek gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Sarpong. Skwarek manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Skwarek is breathing heavily.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Sarpong thumps Skwarek with a low kick.
Sarpong slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Skwarek takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Sarpong scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Skwarek doesn't seem bothered though.
Sarpong lunges at Skwarek with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Skwarek's hand.
Sarpong lands a big right hand that sends Skwarek crashing to the mat! Sarpong stays standing though and waves Skwarek back to his feet!
Skwarek is rocked!
Sarpong drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Skwarek's head, knocking him out cold! Sarpong is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:04 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Kojo Sarpong!
