The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurze connects with a jab.
Nice sprawl there from Penn as Kurze shoots in.
Kurze looks to throw the jab but Penn is out of range.
Kurze misses with a body shot
and Penn counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Kurze thinking.
Kurze fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Kurze misses with a right hand
and Penn counters with a three punch combo that has Kurze backing up. Kurze nods at Penn to acknowledge the strikes.
Kurze thows a body shot but no joy.
Kurze closes this distance looking for a takedown but Penn circles away.
Kurze misses the shot to the body.
Penn connects with a looping right hand.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Kurze feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Penns jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Penn uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Kurze.
Kurze thows a body shot but no joy.
Penn shoots in for a double leg but Kurze sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Kurze misses with a body shot.
Kurze thows a left - swing and a miss!
Kurze lands with a good body shot.
The fighters circle momentarily. Kurze darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Kurze shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Penn counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Penn.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Konrad Kurze. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kurze tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Penn lands a hook to the side of the head.
Kurze tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Penn just stands there and leans against the ropes.
Kurze fails to pull guard.
Kurze jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Penn walks away with a smile on his face. Kurze gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Penn throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Kurze sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Penn just misses with a punch to the body.
Penn getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
A big right from Kurze misses.
Kurze throws a lazy right hand but Penn sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
No luck for Kurze with that takedown attempt.

Penn fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Kurze manages to avoid it.
Kurze throws a shot to the body.
Kurze swings for the body but Penn moves out of range.
Penn throws a hook to the side of Kurze's head but Kurze sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Penn swings for the body but Kurze moves out of range.
Nice body punch from Kurze.
Penn avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Kurze. Penn does a little dance to reset his feet.

Kurze just misses with a punch to the body.
Penn rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kurze moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kurze takes one on the button.
Penn slaps away a takedown attempt from Kurze, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Kurze takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Kurze is rocked!
Penn lands a nice looking body shot.
Oh Kurze is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Penn ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Kurze's jaw. Kurze's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Penn does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Cassius Penn!
