Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Michael Scope! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Green Lantern! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Steve Erwin and Damien Edna.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Scope shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Lantern is trying to defend but Scope finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Scope is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Lantern has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Scope is working away from the top position though. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Scope thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Lantern's head. Scope is trying to work for a kimura but Lantern is defending well.
Scope is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Lantern actively working from the bottom here. Lantern trying to control but Scope postures up.
Scope has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Scope working over Lantern with some ground and pound. Lantern looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Lantern looking for submissions off his back. Scope is working for a submission of some sort.
That's one minute gone in the round. Scope looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Lantern with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Scope prevents Lantern from improving his position. Scope is trying for a kimura here. Lantern looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Scope wins by kimura!
