PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Roger Mallao (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lito Balboa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Roger Mallao has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Roger Mallao seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 8 - 0, fighting out of London, Roger Mallao!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, Lito Balboa!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balboa throws a sloppy head kick
and Mallao counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Balboa throws a lazy head kick

and Mallao counters with a takedown into side control.
Balboa looks gassed!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Mallao looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Mallao tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
You can see the frustration on Balboa's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The referee asks Mallao politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Mallao prefers to stall for the moment though.

Mallao staying calm.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Mallao will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Mallao wants to stand but Balboa is controlling his arm.
Mallao tries to stand but Balboa controls the position and pulls Mallao into his guard.
Mallao wants to get up but he can't break Balboa's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Roger Mallao has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Balboa on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Mallao scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Mallao closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Mallao lands in his opponent's guard.
Balboa utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Mallao tries to free his leg and advance position but Balboa is retaining full guard.
Mallao is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Balboa should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Roger Mallao has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Mallao scores a takedown into full mount!
Balboa really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Mallao looking to control and managing it successfully.
Balboa is bucking up trying to escape but Mallao cracks him with another couple of good strikes.


Balboa is rocked!
Mallao takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Mallao is working on an americana here. Ooh, that looks pretty nasty! Nope, Balboa has managed to escape the submission attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Mallao landing strikes from the mount.
Mallao sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Mallao's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!



Mallao shoots in for a takedown and gets it, with a heavy slam. That will score well with the judges.
Balboa is still in real trouble! Can Mallao finish him?
Mallao knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Balboa on the ground.
Balboa tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mallao connects with a couple of short punches.
Mallao stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Balboa swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mallao is working hard here to advance position.
Mallao gets to his feet and stands over Balboa, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Balboa felt that one! Mallao unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Balboa from any more punishment!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roger Mallao!
