PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Grigori Rasputin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Ketchup (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ketchup has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. John Ketchup has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Grigori Rasputin's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Grigori Rasputin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 18 - 0, fighting out of London, John Ketchup!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, William Gold and Richard Clark.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ketchup tries to keep at a distance but Rasputin has taken the fight into the clinch.
Ketchup looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Rasputin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ketchup fails with a takedown attempt.

Rasputin closes the distance and clinches.
Rasputin jumps guard but Ketchup stands there with Rasputin around his waist. Rasputin gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Rasputin cracks Ketchup with a nice body shot.
Ketchup misses with a punch on the inside.
Rasputin goes for a takedown in the clinch but Ketchup prevents it.

Rasputin breaks the clinch.
Rasputin shoots in but Ketchup avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Rasputin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rasputin.

Rasputin is working for takedown but Ketchup is calmly controlling the position for now.

Ketchup is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Ketchup tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Rasputin ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Rasputin no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Ketchup got a little sloppy there for a moment and Rasputin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Ketchup has managed to get both his arms back between Rasputin's legs - danger averted.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rasputin will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Rasputin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Rasputin tries to get out of the position.

Rasputin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Ketchup is aware though and is defending well.
Rasputin controls Ketchup momentarily but Ketchup frees himself.

Ketchup looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Rasputin is fending him off so far but Ketchup persists. Nope, Rasputin circles away and we're back to standing.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Rasputin holds on and takes a little breather.

Rasputin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Ketchup on his heels. He'll look to pass Ketchup's guard now, I'm sure.

Ketchup tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Rasputin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Ketchup throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Rasputin's waist but Rasputin gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Ketchup off to one side.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Rasputin is trying to trip Ketchup. He has hold of a leg but Ketchup is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Rasputin persists though and gets the takedown into guard.

Rasputin postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Rasputin trying to control the position from guard on top but Ketchup is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Grigori Rasputin just wasn't active enough.

A bit of stalling here from Rasputin.
Ketchup tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Rasputin goes for a takedown attempt but Ketchup pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Rasputin lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Ketchup has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Ketchup and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Rasputin fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Ketchup to the ground. Rasputin is now in Ketchup's guard.
