PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Big John (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Muay Thai (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Thai's choice of entrance music: Deadly Muay Thai Skills. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Big John!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Muay Thai!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thai is looking to clinch.

Thai moves into the clinch.
Thai trying to land knees to the body.
John is looking to control Thai's arms but Thai gets an underhook and turns him. Now John has his back to the cage.
John wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Thai has him pressed against the cage.
Thai pressing his opponent against the cage.
Thai throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but John blocks it with crossed arms.
Thai's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
John managing to block the knees to the body from Thai.
Thai tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Thai with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Thai blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Thai effectively controlling the action here.

Thai escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
John takes a swing at Thai's ribcage but misses.
Thai tries to clinch but John is having none of it.
John is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Thai.
Thai tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but John paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Thai tries to clinch but John moves out of range.
John jabs at Thai's body.
Thai throws a right and a left that both miss.
John throws the left hand but Thai avoids the punch easily.
Thai fails with an attempt to clinch.

Thai instigates a clinch.
John takes a knee to the side of the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Thai misses with a knee to the head.
John is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Thai throws a knee to the head but misses.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

John lands with a light punch inside.
Thai tries to land knees in the clinch but John avoids the damage to the body.
The referee is keeping an eye on Thai - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
John is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Thai crunches a lovely knee into John's ribcage.

Thai using the Thai plumb to throw knees but John has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.
Thai throws a knee to the head but misses.
Thai tries to land a knee to the head but John blocks with his arms.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Thai just misses with a elbow thrown towards John's brow.

Thai keeps the fight in the clinch, despite John's efforts to push away.

John breaks from the clinch.
Thai tries to clinch but fails miserably
and John counters with a lovely straight right hand!
John avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
John circles away from the clinch attempt
and John counters with a left to the body.
Thai moves out of range of the strikes.
John tries to bum rush Thai with a series of wild strikes but Thai uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Thai moves into the clinch.
John has Thai pushed against the cage.
A short right from John.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Thai drops down looking for an ankle pick but John pulls his leg out and moves away.
Thai tries to clinch but John moves away
and John counters with a series of strikes. Thai will be more careful next time no doubt.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

letting John counter with a right hand.
Thai closes the distance but John moves to the side
and John counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Thai looks gassed!
A punch combination from John misses.
John digs a good body shot into Thai's ribs.
John uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Thai has time to react.
John lands with a right hand.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts John, as that shot connected.


Thai is rocked!
John throws a jab when Thai was well out of range.
Thai is still on wobbly legs! Can John finish him?
John misses with a hook. Thai ducked under it nicely.
John throws a shot from downtown. Thai moves away and avoids it.
John throws a right hand that misses

and Thai counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Thai.

John manages to break the clinch.
Muay Thai seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
John throws an off balance right hand

and Thai counters by moving into the clinch.

and Thai counters by clinching up.

John escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Thai is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. John just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! And now a right hook, right on the button! Thai has gone limp, and this one is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Big John!
