The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Well, if Silva is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Butcher gets full guard.
Silva looking to sit in guard and control but Butcher gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Butcher looking to pass the guard.

Butcher wants to control from the top but Silva keeps moving.

Butcher got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Butcher has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.

Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Butcher can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Silva has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Butcher is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Silva.

Butcher has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Butcher bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Butcher wants to control but Silva is keeping him busy.

Silva is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Butcher off and has taken his back!
Butcher just trying to survive but Silva is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

BOOM! Silva connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Butcher manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Silva is trying to control the action in half guard but Butcher is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Butcher wants to control but Silva is keeping busy.
Silva wants to take a breather but Butcher is having none of it.
Butcher trying to get back to full guard but Silva takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Butcher is looking to improve his position but Silva isn't that keen on the idea.

Butcher is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Silva wants to control the pace but Butcher is squirming around nicely.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva lands a big shot there that rocks Butcher but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Silva trying to control but Butcher is having none of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Frank Butcher will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Silva gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Butcher to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Silva pulls Butcher in close to prevent any damage.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Frank Butcher wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Butcher gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Butcher wants a takedown.

Silva has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Butcher is trying to keep an underhook but Silva manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Silva is keen to just control but Butcher is a slippery customer.
Silva might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Butcher kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Butcher wants to control but Silva is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Antonio Silva was stalling too much, according to the referee.

Butcher forces Silva back against the cage and clinches.

Silva decides to pull guard.
Butcher stays in close to Silva's body and controls the position.

Silva is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Butcher's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Butcher's back!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Butcher.

Silva is working the back position looking for the choke. Oh, he's slid into an armbar! Beautiful transition and Butcher taps out! Fantastic Jiu Jitsu from Silva.
