PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gray Pierce (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arm Bar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Gray Pierce!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Arm Bar!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pierce fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Bar sprawls well initially but Pierce persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Bar is trying to control but can't.

Pierce is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bar sees it coming and defends easily.
Bar has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Pierce is working away from the top position though.
Pierce tries to stand and escape but Bar is controlling the position.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Pierce wants to take a breather but Bar is having none of it.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pierce is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bar is just riding it out for now. Pierce eventually gives up the hold.
Pierce trying to control from half guard but Bar is working away.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Gray Pierce just wasn't active enough.

Pierce darts in and clinches Bar up against the cage.
Bar can't get the takedown.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pierce prevents a body shot from Bar.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Pierce.
Bar tries for a takedown. No joy.

Pierce breaks from the clinch.
Bar fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Gray Pierce has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Arm Bar.
Bar tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Bar misses with a takedown

and Pierce counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Bar's guard now.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Pierce controlling from the top position.

Pierceis looking to pass into half guard but Bar pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Bar is in guard.

Bar drops back looking for a leg! Pierce is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pierce manages to kick Bar off! Bar jumps back into Pierce's guard.
Pierce wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Bar is now in half guard.
Pierce is trying to control but Bar manages to pass to mount!
Pierce knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Bar on the ground.
Pierce is looking to improve his position but Bar isn't that keen on the idea.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Bar looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Bar is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Pierce to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Pierce shrugs it off.
Pierce has given up his back here. Will Bar look for the submission or keep pounding away?
Pierce is really stuck here.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Pierce looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Bar is looking to control Pierce but Pierce is wriggling around and keeping busy.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Bar is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Arm Bar will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Pierce bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
I wouldn't like to be where Bar is right now.
Pierce working away.
Bar is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
You can see the frustration on Bar's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Pierce throwing strikes but Bar manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Pierce is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Bar tries for a kimura but Pierce is defending well.
Pierce wants to control but Bar postures up.
Bar is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Bar tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Bar has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Pierce tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bar wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Pierce wants to control but Bar postures up.

Bar is trying to get an arm triangle but Pierce is defending well.

Bar tries for a kimura but Pierce is defending well.
Arm Bar has got the better of the ground game so far.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bar wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pierce, who protects the arm well.
Pierce is looking to reverse the position.
Bar advances to mount.

Bar working for a submission but Pierce is keeping him at bay.
Bar takes Pierce's back.
Pierce holding both Bar 's hands and preventing any damage.

Bar is persistently looking for the submission but Pierce is defending it well.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Bar working for a RNC but it's not happening just yet.

Bar has his arm under Pierce's chin here. Game over son! Bar squeezes tightly and Pierce is forced to tap out!
