Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ruki Pushki! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Tito Ortiz! The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Konstantin Menshow and Viktor Lagutenko.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Excellent takedown into side control there by Ortiz. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pushki tries to escape but Ortiz is in control. Pushki regains half guard. Ortiz looks to land a strike but Pushki avoids it nicely and regains full guard. Ortiz gets to his feet. Pushki looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Pushki changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Ortiz looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Ortiz tries to get back to half guard but can't. Pushki swings around for an armbar but Ortiz sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Pushki's guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pushki looking for subs off his back but Ortiz has passed one foot through into half guard.
It looks like Ortiz is going to stand back up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pushki wants to get back to full guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Ortiz connects with a nice short shot to Pushki's temple.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ortiz trying to control the action but Pushki is working from the bottom. Pushki gets back to full guard.
Ortiz tries to free his leg and advance position but Pushki is retaining full guard. Ortiz cracks Pushki with a solid left hand. Ortiz works over Pushki with some ground and pound from guard. Ortiz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Pushki working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ortiz. Pushki lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Ortiz!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pushki working for a guillotine from mount but Ortiz is in no mood to give up. Pushki is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Ortiz is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Ortiz flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Pushki anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Ortiz and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Pushki slips an arm under Ortiz chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Pushki has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Pushki is squeezing on Ortiz like an anaconda would it's prey. Ortiz fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!
